At the start of summer it’s great to climb to Botev peak. Stara planina is one of my favourite mountains in Bulgaria and the Central Balkan is one of its most beautiful parts. It’s time for peak number 2 on my list - Botev peak! 🙂
Stara planina is the third highest mountain of the 39 mountains in Bulgaria. To climb to its highest peak I chose quite an ambitious route. I started from Panitsite area above Kalofer and in 14 hours I ended the day in Karlovo ... at the tavern!
To my surprise there weren’t many people in the mountain, but there was an abundance of beautiful nature, views, greenery, horses and flowers. 37 km on one day is quite a lot but each km was worth it!
