Hello You teach very well , I have question , Can I learn Bulgarian and Russian at the same time , Some people discourage me that I will mix them up , But I want to hear your suggestion , Actually I love Slavic languages
@Monoglossia
@Monoglossia 2 года назад
Hello! I think that if you have the enthusiasm to learn both at the same time then absolutely, go for it! (I learned Spanish and Italian at the same time, so I’ve been in a similar situation.) A tip to help you not mix them up: maybe avoid doing similar activities in the two languages at the same time. For example, don’t learn the same vocabulary (food, colours, numbers, …) in the same week or month. Or if you are focusing on listening/watching RU-vid videos in one of the languages, try watching a film or reading a book in the other one. Hope this helps, good luck 😊

Hello! The video is great but I have one question regarding the pronounciation of the letter L in LAPTOP, it's not L? It's more like "w"? Thanks!
@Monoglossia
@Monoglossia 9 месяцев назад
Hello! Yes, you're absolutely right, the "l" sounds (almost) like "w". It is only in the combinations "le" and "li" that it sounds like a regular "l".
@HeroManNick132
@HeroManNick132 8 месяцев назад
Л in Bulgarian has 3 types of pronunciation: Dark L (almost like W, even though the younger generation starts to pronounce it like the Polish Ł, while the older generation finds it as speech defect): In front of А, Ъ, О, У (and everything else) Light L: Е, И Soft L: ЬО, Ю, Я
@jassenjj
@jassenjj 6 месяцев назад
Very strange answer from Monoglossia... The Л letter NEVER sounds as W if spoken properly. It is considered a speech defect. Try to produce the hardest possible L sound like in "love" to make words like "лаптоп", "лък", "лов", "лук".
@HeroManNick132
@HeroManNick132 6 месяцев назад
@@jassenjj Чудно ме, ако Л-то ни е проблем защо премахнахме ЛЬ от граматиката ни след 1945? Преди думите - крал, учител, учителка, приятел, приятелка са били с меко Л без О, както сега изкуствено е наложено Ь да се използва само пред О, а не преди, както ЬЕ е станало на ИЕ или Е сега. Преди сме писали краль, учитель, учителька, приятель, приятелька, ама сега какво стана с това меко Л? Така и българите не си направиха труда да го върнат...
@jassenjj
@jassenjj 6 месяцев назад

@Monoglossia
@Monoglossia 2 года назад
It should be pronounced "molya" - "я" is always pronounced "ya". However, in some regional dialects it might indeed end up sounding a bit like "mola".

здравей !. I catched up again to the end of the course. In this lesson, at 25.15, I think you say '' надяавам се че сtе добре". I do not understand exacrly "че"...? I would say . надявам се вие сте додре.. Maybe this is explained in the couse. I restarted from lesson 1 today.

How would we say to a friend..I hope you are fine..
@Monoglossia
@Monoglossia 2 года назад
Здравей! Yes, you're absolutely right - "надявам се, че сте добре." "Че" is used to connect the clauses, like "that" ("I hope that you're well"). It is possible to skip it, but a little less natural than in English. The sentence you give is correct, too, but usually we would skip the pronoun ("вие") because the verb "сте" already shows that we are referring to 2nd person plural. To say it to a friend, we would use 2nd person singular instead - "надявам се, че (ти) СИ добре". Hope this helps!

@@Monoglossia Thank you for the explanation. I understand now. I spent a lot of time to figure this out last night; I think this is not in the course. Let me try...I hope you slep well...or I hope you had a good night.. but this is too difficult for me now.. I made the mistake not to order the book. I did now. And start all over. много благодая..
@Monoglossia
@Monoglossia 2 года назад
I understand that these can be a bit difficult to make out. They would also start with "надявам се, че", but then we have the past tense, which makes things more complicated. There are two different past tenses depending on whether you were there or not when the action took place! So, "I slept well" will require a different tense from "I hope you slept well". I think these topics might be covered in A2, so I'm sure you will get there with a bit of patience 💪

@@Monoglossia do you know some Russian and know if Л is the same as hard Russian Л? In Polish we have a little harder sound ł, which is pronounced completely like English W, but about century ago it was just like Russian one.
@Monoglossia
@Monoglossia 3 года назад
Yes, I would say that it is the same as the hard Russian Л 👍 So my guess would be that it is a little bit softer than the Polish one, although Bulgarian natives learning English (especially kids) do get confused, thinking that W is some kind of L.

@@Monoglossia Godziny на полски е ''часове'' (в случая е ''часа.'') А пък ''czas'' на полски е време, макар че и на български го има същото в значение в различен контекст. На полски години е ''lata,'' както в някои контексти ''2 лета'' на български също може да значи 2 години. Знам, ако не сте запознати добре със славянските езици, ето такива провали могат да станат.
