IN REGARDS TO TOMATOES - I have had a lot of questions about how they freeze and defrost. The tomato freezes fine - I have been defrosting these sandwiches and also just wanting as a sandwich rather than toasting if i wasn't going home for lunch break and they have been fine. I will say that the tomato I cut up was firm so keep that in mind :)

My youngest left school 8 years ago but I still make freezer sandwiches for hubby's lunch. I usually make 3 loaves worth at a time.

lol - I was watching and though t- "oh she cuts her ham like me - maybe I got the idea from her" and then you said you got it from me. lol. I'm in a new stage of lunch making now.... my high schoolers make their own - don't make it - go hungry - and my year 6er makes my year 2ers and I pay her $5 a week.. Total game changer! lol Also - we go through a loaf of bread a day between them all + our freezer died in the move 😞

Looks so satisfying might try and start doing this again as tried few years ago. Only thing not sure of is in tbe uk sliced meats say keep refrigerated not freeze as assune already previously frozen and defrosted. But could try roasting a whole leg of ham or whole chicken i guess. Do tomatoes freeze ok?

My mum would make me cheese ham and shredded carrot sandwiches for school lunches and froze them. They were always fresh and yummy when i'd eat them. ☺️

I also have done this for years...freezing the kids sandwiches.I didnt think of standing them upright when freezing or defrosting!thankyou for tge tips

YES stand them up. Its my biggest tip as they defrost 1000% better that way and dont go soggy :)

I always freeze my Vegemite rolls for work for the fortnight. Then just add it to my lunch box ,it always is fresh

I do this with mustard and also cream cheese & tomato and ham works fine but I only use for toasties

Must say I do not like piles of filling on my sandwiches either. Also do not have butter on mine. They get one piece of meat and one slice of cheese. Until I started watching youtube I had never seen anyone put more than one slice. Just the way it was as children.
