Rail-Veyor(R) is a bulk material handling solution for surface and underground applications that offers the best features from conveyors, truck haulage and heavy rail in one complete system.
The Rail-Veyor® system provides the flexibility of trucks, along with the economics of a conveyor and the energy efficiency of heavy rail,
Some features include travelling inclines of 20%, maneuvering tight corners, a small environmental footprint and lower capex and opex than other systems. Rail-Veyor® incorporates a remotely operated electrically powered series of two wheeled railcars driven by VFD power stations located along on a light-rail track. Because of the modular and scalable design, Rail-Veyor® can be easily relocated and is used as an enabling technology for rapid development and high speed production at the working face.

At the Vale T1 mine in Thompson, we still use an electric locomotive, pulling 19 ton cars back and forth between chutes and the bottom dump ore pass on 3600 level. It probably hauls just as much...but employs two people and pays bonus...I wonder if the screen jockey monitoring this process gets any bonus???

An ingenious idea offering both efficiency and safety in bulk material handling. I wish them success in its deployment into the respective industries.

Conveyor belts are very efficient, they will take the grade change but for every corner you have to have a tranfer. The rail may be better option for this mine but it's hard to beat a belt

this is what I call a Mine : Having worked underground within an English where almost Every Conveyor Belt Had to be Manned By a Button Man; where he Had to sit within a Manhole at the side of the Conveyor just simply to Press in or pull out a Button whenever the belt needed to be stopped or started; and Even being wrapped up in Plenty Clothes; One would start to shiver; The Noise of a high pitched Electric Motor would cause Ear damage

whats the tonnage/tram like as well at tonnage/hour on average?
@railveyor
@railveyor 3 года назад
Wow. Sorry I'm just getting to see this comment. Each system is engineered to meet the specifications of the mine... both in tonnage and speed. And the speeds are variable. Loading at one speed, tramming at another speed, unloading at yet another speed, and return to loading... yup, another speed.

Looks like a maintenance nightmare after some good hours are on it. An awful lot of double tire drives and how many casters that will all need rebuilds? Wow...
@railveyor
@railveyor 2 года назад
It's actually a maintenance dream! Life of most equipment is 20 years. Tires about 2 years. If you'd like a presentation on all the innovations we designed into the train system, we'd be happy to demonstrate it to you.

will my crew need mcnuckel farley wrenches, to repair the convoy sprocket bushings? pretty important info if you have rented a 6 ton cannon mucker for the day. but im sure you knew that lol.
@noisespektrum5416
@noisespektrum5416 9 лет назад
billybonewhacker no, mcnuckel farley wrenches are not compatible, your crew will need an adjustable veeblefetzer as the bushings are encased in fallopian tubing.

So I guess the wheels switch rotation-direction when the carts are approx vertical?
@zerofox7347
@zerofox7347 5 лет назад
No because they go up side down the track must twist at some point to re orientate them.
@RangieNZ
@RangieNZ 5 лет назад
@@zerofox7347 No, the carts are upside down for quarter of a mile (so they can all dump), then the whole 'train' reverses and it goes back underground..

Yes it is. As far as I know, this is just a prototype for now. I can't remember at which mine it is located at though. But the company's office is on Fielding Road near Lively. It's an entire brand new mining method that is made in Sudbury. :-)

What this unit needs is an engineer from a roller coaster designer. There is no reason that rail could not corkscrew those cars right side up and have them head back down in a continual motion instead of having to back it up and waste energy. You already have it half way there.

The video is a demonstration that even if power plants convert back to coal from natural gas, (they won't,) and even if all the regulations concerning the mining and burning of coal are removed, (ditto,) the thousands and thousands of coal mining jobs that used to be are not coming back. It's all been automated. The same for manufacturing. Better get back to school. If you want to pay through the nose for your schooling, vote Republican. If you think education is an investment we all should make to each other, vote Democrat.
@markkrul3429
@markkrul3429 6 лет назад
You are wrong in your basic assumption. Coal will go away...but so will industry. The reason is because "green" energy can not supply the industrial power needs of an industrial society. Every jurisdiction that has tried to go green, like Germany for example, has hit their citizens with energy poverty and the most vulnerable have to choose between food and heat...many have DIED. It was very telling to see diesel generators at the Bonn climate conference in Germany...so much for renewables eh?. And so what will these highly educated people do when there is no industry to design high tech equipment for...or no industry to regulate as a highly educated bureaucrat? And because there will be no industry, there will be no wages going to buy high tech consumer goods either The only jobs available will be working for the Sierra Club, or Tides foundation as an activist. As far as education goes, education is not a right...it's something you should have to earn. Those that struggle to be in school, try harder to succeed in school, and become the best in their chosen field...when you let anyone and everyone in, you have automatically lowered the standard of education and therefore, the quality of education as well. Right now we have people with Masters degrees driving cab...in the future, most McDonald's employees will have PHD's.

Mark, where ever you're getting your information from, find a few more different sources. You will be better informed.
@ralphaverill2001
@ralphaverill2001 6 лет назад
Mark, you need to stay up to date on current events. Coal is on its way out because natural gas is so much cheaper. It has nothing to do with "green" energy or environmental rules. Coal used to be the cheapest; not any more.
