Me. too. I remember picnics and fishing before it was made into a park. I remember the celebration when the dam was opened (yeah. I'm old.). Good memories.
Welcome to Arkansas, the "Natural State". When you said you were going to Bull Shoals and the White River, I knew you were going to fall in love with them. I'm glad the dogwoods and redbuds are in bloom while you are there...beautiful. Have a blast while you are there!
We love that whole area. Gastons is a very cool place restaurant hanging over the river. We go down there every year to decorate graves. In the reception area of Gastons there is a photo of my great grandfathers river ferry. There’s a wonderful pontoon tour of the lake that can be arranged at the dam visitor center. There’s a nice ramp at Cotter a few minutes down the road.
When I was a kid, my folks would fish where the campground is. There were great sycamores and soft maples along the river that were impressive. It was beautiful in its primitive condition. One time we saw a bear across the river. Scared me to death. I hid in the car for the rest of that trip.
Past up the boat ramp twice. I'm from Stuart, FL and have been coming to this park for the past 20 yrs. Now that I drive truck I come here three times a year for a week each.
Man how I love to go to Florida and fish !!! I love this video of my home , thx for the work Making this , Hope y’all had fun good to see some Floridians enjoy these Arkansas trout and scenery we take it for granted sometimes…
Everybody loves camping. I did so much of it when I was a kid with my folks that I just got sick of it. But there are a lot of places to camp in this beautiful country, so enjoy.
Great video guys,, Mountain Home here, I try to get over to the White river every chance I get. Always great to see folks from out of state come here to enjoy the beauty.
I saw you show Memphis at the beginning of your video. I'm from Memphis. Lived there for 62 years before moving to Gatlinburg, TN. I camped at a lot of the AR lakes and fished the tailwaters. I always thought I would retire in the Mountain View area. But I've never stayed at Bull Shoals St Pk. Maybe one day.
we had a lake house about 1/2 mile from where your video was taken. I just love the area. the lakes are great and the river at the park is beautiful. during the summer when the dam is open it acts like an air conditioner. the breeze off of the mountain crossing the cold river is the most relaxing thing ever. I never did any good trout fishing but I always enjoyed hanging out at the park.
