I sent an email to Bullbar for the return, but it doesn't exist. Luckily, the chat on the website is up and running so they were able to send me the return label. They did mention they have a few bars that had the same issue as mine regarding the bar breaking on top, so they are looking into that for future orders (just in case you want to wait a little bit for them to fix it). In the end, I wasn't happy with: It breaking The twist locks/anchors Padding on the handles The concept is really cool, but some additional improvements would go a long way. To see my recommended starting workout and the equipment I recommend (changes every once in a while), head over to: gamerbody.com
Had mine about a week and had the same issue with the bar that you had. Not sure why both sides of the bar aren't welded to the brackets. Contacted support and they're sender out a replacement piece. If that fails, I'll probably be returning mine as well.
@@GamerBody got about 4 ueses out of it. Went to use the dip bars and the bolt slipped out of the pull-up bar. Both of the washers on the sleeve nut basically just fell apart and caused it to seperate. We'll see how long the replacement part lasts. May even just weld it myself.
Thanks for the review, as always. This makes me happier I bought the Ironmaster Bench and attachments based on your review. Much more expensive upfront but I have had no issues with that setup.
There’s a 2.0 version out. I just ordered. Looks like it’s addresses the major issues. Pulled the trigger and we’ll see. Doesn’t ship till next month though.
@@GamerBody Sure. I assume it's still in production because it ships on January 10. They have a video demonstration on their website, and it appears they replaced the annoying screw-in latches with clamp-on latches and pins which appears it would be a quicker assembly. I hope they offer replacement pins as I can see those being quickly lost. It looks like the bar is more secure, but can't say for sure. Taking the risk. It will suck if it's a dud because it will be a pain for me to send it back from Korea. They don't ship to military APO (it's still USPS), so I had to have it shipped to an APO forwarding service, which will cost me another $100. Lol.
Hmm I'll keep that in mind. I wish they improved the locking clamps as I really didn't like those in the original. Definitely a cool concept though, and with upgrades, could be something really special.
The 2.0 looks AWESOME! However, I'm gonna wait until the reviews start coming in, before I set myself back $350. I hope it lives up to its promise, because it would be PERFECT for my needs!
Just ordered it too, its been a while that I did calisthenics. didnt get to watch the reviews on he previous version (1.0), just now. I hope those get resolved in the 2.0 version (mine says it will be shipped Feb 15)
Not related to the product but wanted to say how good your form is on the exercises, if you can do the exercise almost in slow motion like you're doing then you're v strong 💪
I think your review is pretty on point, I got in on the Kickstarter , waited a year for mine, and when I finally got it after about a week of using it, broke at the same location as well. I brought this to the company’s attention, and all they did was send me a couple of those inserts to replace the one that failed (I’m sure the second one they sent was for the other side when it fails.
I've been looking into that as well. The problem is the base, when folded, is just slightly too big for my closet, but maybe if I put it in its side it would fit.
@@GamerBody I’m thinking that there is zero chance of getting that BaseBlocks Big Bar in your closet. Thanks for the review on this one though. When I saw your post you ordered it a while ago, I decided to hold off and wait for your review. Glad I did. Thanks for taking the hit on this one. A shame it isn’t as good as hoped. 👍
Not right now, but keeping an eye on it. While I think the new version wouldn't break as my old one did, they didn't make any changes to some of the stuff I did not like the first time around (based on what I can tell). But, I will keep it as an item for a potential future product.
I returned it. They may have already corrected it for upcoming models as they mentioned I may have got a prototype one of the early launch ones. It might be all set now. The other issues (setup and padding) are still an issue for me even without the broken bar.
When I do cardio, it is either walking my dogs, or the RENPHO exercise spin bike I have. I don't spend much time on it though. Most of my focus is resistance training. If you want to see the bike, I have a review here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dWr25sFBnrY.html
You got the bullbar for $55? I remember there being a scam listing when this was first announced, but never at $55. Are we talking about the same product?
The 2.0 looks a bit better as they have change some of the things like the locks for the bars and such. I may try it again since I do see some improvements.
For anyone who wants a different perspective from another Bullbar user, I actually disagree and fully recommend it. It is now my go-to machine for daily calisthenics and I have put TONS of reps on it at 235lbs and it’s still going strong. I think it is perfect for anyone who 1) does not have a ton of space for a home gym and wants the flexibility of getting it out of the way when needed. I don’t think there’s any other pull-up bar that can do that, and 2) being able to do pull-ups and dips anywhere. I have a friend who also got one and would often do his workouts poolside before the weather started to turn. Doing things like Murphs outdoors is something I look forward to with it. Also, I’m not really sure why it took so long to set up. Honestly, after figuring out the latches, it’s 1 minute tops to set up or take down come on now!😂😂😂. It does suck that yours had that defect but at least they backed it up and offered you a new one👍👍👍
I am glad you like it! It may be that other equipment I use has found a better spot in my personal setup. The items that really threw me off are: 10 different twist locks - I expected this to just be a quick setup legs, pull-up middle section, done, but instead I spent time twisting locks in place. Not the end of the world, but wasn't what I wanted. I am not a fan of the padding on the bar at all! While this is personal preference, it is just too "squishy". I'd rather a rougher grip so that if my hands get sweaty, I can still hold the bar. It was a bit bulkier than expected, and heavier, but not the end of the world. I do hope they can make it a bit lighter in future iterations. But, you like it and can use it outside which is awesome!
I ordered one of these a few months ago and received it last week. Unfortunately, it arrived broken; the hinge on one of the uprights had sheared. I emailed them and didn't get a response for 7 days. The online chat did respond, "yeah sorry I've been looking at your pictures. We can go ahead and just send you a new unit if youre okay with that?" I said I was okay with it, but got no further reply. We'll see what happens.
I hope you get the replacement! The box I got was pretty beat up when it arrived. Mine wasn't broken initially, but as shown in in the video, the top bar came out within 2 days. Hopefully they get those improvements out quickly.
Not right now as not enough has changed, but if I see some good upgrades in the future I will. I love the concept, just missing things I wish came with it.
I have it saved as Amazon has a similar item, but I have not used it yet. I just use the attachment that goes with the IronMaster Super Bench Pro right now. I am kind of interested in the pull-up bar by Baseblocks though.
I have this as a potential future one. I had actually ordered it a while back, but they said the device was really backordered so I cancelled (would have taken months to get). I may look into it again as it has been a while. Thanks for the suggestion!
It looks a bit better. Looking today, I see that the locking pieces have improved from when I had it. I may look at this again and test it out to see if it is a good replacement for my doorway pull-up bar and dip/inverted row setup.
Right now, it is the IronMaster Super Bench Pro with the pull-up bar attachment (for what I have tested). Otherwise, the Crossgrips, but those are on a doorframe.
I haven't tried the fit home gym yet. However, I am interested in testing it out. It is a lot more pieces and you have to assemble it, but it does look sturdier. Bullbar has an updated version where they say the issue I had with the bar breaking is fixed, and if so, I think I would still prefer the Bullbar as it is easier to throw in a closet. BUT, that is coming from someone who has not use the Fit Home Gym yet. With that, the Fit Home Gym is really expensive as well.
If you can find a flat enough surface, ok. It is kind of bulky to walk down the beach though. I know they have made some updates so I can't speak to those, but if I had this same one, I wouldnt take it to the beach to workout. That's just my opinion though.
I am surprised it broke. Won't get an "X amount of time later" review that's for sure! My setup is a squat stand and gym rings. Recently got a barbell and weights and that really ate the space. I like your minimal setup. Have you looked into the Bull Bar? Apologies if I have asked this before. Seems a lot sturdier than that. 😊
IronMaster Super Bench Pro with Pull-Up attachment, or if your doorway can support it, the Crossgrips. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3UWh5t5OHu8.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d2cb6uYF6RQ.html
@@GamerBody thank you for your response. Taking into mind the price of the ironmaster don't u think is better to purchase de b bars of baseblocks instead?
@GamerBody sorry I meant vertically for storage. For example, tilting it backwards into the seat and that way it will take up less space in storage. Will that be possible?
@@silentangel4286 possible, yes, but difficult and a high potential to fall over, also yes. I personally would not do that based on how it was built, but I do think it would be possible. I don't want to try it out though. It is pretty heavy around the wheel portion so getting it into that position wouldn't be fun.
Seems these things are too overpriced for what they are. If you can spare the space, it would be cheaper to just buy a squat rack with a pull up bar attached, lol. Those wall mounted folding racks are also sold by off brand companies - they need to be mounted to a wall but in terms of price they are not too far off from the $300 this thing sells for.
It isn't, or someone copied it. They have a Kickstarter and everything for this particular product. I also spoke with their team and they have fixed the issue with the breaking in the latest update of the product.
It's probably a decent product, but it would take up too much room for me (as I can't take it down and put in closet). If you have the space it looks like a decent product.
I love Bullbar. It sucks that gamerbody got one with an issue but it sounds like they took care of him quickly. I’ve had zero issues and frankly don’t really understand any of the usage critiques in this video. If you can find a better portable pull-up bar than this (other than door frame ones which have far fewer features and far inferior) then good luck. He says it takes too long to set up but it takes me a minute. He mentions it’s wobbly. It’s not fully solid like a bolted down pull-up bar at the gym so there is some movement but I find that helps me even more as it engages my stabilizer muscles. I don’t think you’ll regret it.
@@Coolhand295 I am glad you enjoy it! It is more so that it did not meet the expectations I had based on what was advertised (especially the 10 twist locks). I also really don't like the foam grips as I found them hard to hold. Outside of it breaking (definitely the kicker in terms of returning it) it is decent for a mobile pull-up bar. If that fits what you need, it can be a great product. I would like some updates for future versions though before I would go back to it.
I do not plan on it. Main reason is I don't have a place for it. I could use my garage, but it gets VERY hot here in TX in the Summer, even at night. I also have good results without them, so I don't feel a need for it. With that said, I did just buy the Trainer+ from Vitruvian which is an AI-mechanical system which should allow for regular squats and such. It is still shipping over, but I'll have a review on that when it arrives.
