these lurcher dogs have a lot of resistance, I am Spanish and I have never seen such good dogs, now I only have my 4 lurcher puppies to see if they are so good here, I think here the hare runs more
Cool vid mate & very good dog! you boys in England a very lucky to have so many hares, back here in Ireland you could walk all day and never come across one & when your lucky enough to come across one they will never squat down & wait for you to walk up to them with the dogs , as a rule there up and gone a field or two before you get to them!
I hear quite alot of negatives about hare coursing being cruel but having watched this I'm not so sure as it's one on one both born to run n both have the same chance n I guess the ones that do get away go on to breed stronger stock, I see the hare was given head start aswell which seemed sporting.
heard alot of good things about this dog.....finally seen it run....hopefully get a few videos of my dog coursing next few days (weather and ground permitting) my dog aint got the stamina bulldozer has but tries his hardest for 3-4 mins :) great video and great dog :-)
People don't gamble during bull fights. Hare Coursing wasn't banned in the UK because it was cruel to rabbits, it had nothing to do with Animal Rights and everything to do with MONEY. Hare Coursing was banned because it attracted illegal gamblers and black market criminals who did not report their bets, wagers & winnings to the government for taxation purposes. Luckily, Hare Coursing is still legal in the United States, and remains a family-friendly dog sport which is practiced regularly by healthy & fit canine companions of every breed on private farms across America.
Got banned to get votes from the house wifes, to ban hunting with dogs fox hunting to.but now they shoot more foxes and hares so it's worse for the animals.
Peter Gore Seer, I Would Love To See More Cover To Help The Hare, But Remember Hare Shoots, Kill 300 And More In Two Day Shoots, As That Thay Are Considered Vermin On Estates, And Remember Birds Are Not All Killed And Fly Off Full Off Lead.
I'm an American and over here we have Antelope Jackrabbit which are MUCH faster and bigger than Brown Hare. Over here we also have coyotes which hunt hare but the coyotes are slower and smarter than the hare. The coyote knows that it can't catch a hare by itself but it knows the hare RUNS IN CIRCLES. Coyotes therefore hunt the hare by taking turns chasing the hare that causes the eventually tired hare to fall to them as prey. Salukis are not speedster at coursing deer and hare, the time it takes for them to catch game is because the slower Saluki as with the coyote waits for its speed to decline. In the US the Greyhound is used to catch the hare while the Saluki being slower is used in case the hare jump backwards from a quick approaching Greyhound. Salukis being slower are used to push the hare forward so that it has to run faster than the Greyhound are be shamefully caught by a Saluki. Other than the Greyhound, the Magyar Agar is VERY good at catching hare. Often under a minute.
