These panels are designed to allow entry of the bullet (non-ricochet), and then defeat the energy of the bullet through a controlled process of ply-delamination. The correct ratio of fiberglass to resin, and the right amount of heat and pressure during the curing process, ensure that each layer of woven roving fiberglass will delaminate from one another and allow for a controlled, non spalling encapsulation of the bullet within the panel. The kinetic energy of the bullet is released or dissipated through this ply-release or delamination process.

Bullet resistant panels or sheathing are specified in many design situations. The more common applications include, Judge's Benches, courtroom protection for the Jury area and the Witness Box, within the woodwork of Tellers cages or counters in banks, as a bullet proof barrier or wall within government buildings, police stations, District Attorney's offices, U.S. Marshals offices, FBI and ATF offices, guard houses, control rooms within prisons, convenience stores, check cashing stores, ….etc. ArmorCore panels are sometimes used within high-end residences to make a "safe room" or bullet protected room for high threat situations. ArmorCore panels can be used anywhere there is a perceived or real threat of ballistic assault.
Compared to older more traditional bullet resistant building materials such as plate steel, concrete or cinder blocks with sand, ArmorCore offers a lot more utility and ease. The panels are fairly lightweight ( 4.5 lbs per square foot @ UL Level 2 ), can be easily cut, drilled, sanded, painted, textured, and are more compatible with other wood or gypsum materials. Regular jobber drill bits can be used for drilling, masonry or diamond grit-edge blades for sawing, and ArmorCore can be secured to wood or steel studs using a #6 or #8 self-drilling drywall screw or decking screw. ArmorCore can be primed and painted with oil or water based paints, can be glued to other surfaces with Liquid Nails adhesives, and can be covered with drywall, wood panels, or literally any type of wall covering. I seen a demonstration of a similar panel the other day on "Demolition Ranch". Then I looked up the price - almost $5000 for a 4 x 8 foot panel!!! Nice if your bloody rich!!!

About you let me guess you just got your information from the news the same news that lies to us all. David Karesh did not deliberately kill any children he stood up for his rights as a American and he paid the ultimate price really doubt you would ever have the guts to stand up to the system like he did the FBI kill those kids they bulldozed the compound pierced a hole in the building and shot teargas into the area where all the kids was located somehow a fire got started and it was simply terrible imagine suffocating from poison gas and toxic smoke and then right as you fall unconscious you can feel the fire burning your flesh as you slip away. You have no idea what you’re talking about I used to live in Waco I drove by that compound all the time my uncle work for the sheriffs department over there I think I’m more qualified to speak on this situation than you are remember if you have a golf ball size view then you will have a golf ball size perception

i’m retired now , but i spent over 25 years in the Architectual Woodworking Industry in the Washington, d.c. Metropolotian area and we used those products on many Government jobs yes he is correct that the products can be easily trimmed or cut in the field the negative of that is it often puts off a pretty strong burning Plastic Smell i’ve also used Oscillating Jigsaws to cut. out outlet holes and numerous other small cuts in the field utilizing a variety of T Shank Quality Blades Generally Bosch brand blades i’ve found to be among the highest grade for the money they also offer many Specialty blade configurations like Diamond and Carbide as well as a variety of tooth sets too

Wow! So great to know that this product is available! Thank you so much for sharing! A hunter was on my mother's property once illegally and a!most killed her when two bullets went through the walls just missing her! The 2nd bullet ended up lodged in the headboard of my grandmother's bed!

I drove a van for a armored car company in the late '70's that had that stuff inside the body skin. Wasn't very thick but by the time bullet went through the metal body and the glass fiber it was pretty slow.

Far more efficient to frame up the walls with standard steel studs, add a heavy wire mesh over the studs on both sides and then fill with ceramic stones or broken pieces of hard ceramic tiles. Very heavy like sand but the ceramic pieces are far more efficient at depleting the energy of the round as well as tearing it into smaller pieces that are easier stopped as they proceed through the ceramic media.

You can build these yourself formed to fit the same way you build a yacht, just roll it in by hand and keep layering till it's thick enough. You always pay for the labor and factory when you buy something.

Technically, if the projectile does not ricochet, but is stuck in the material, it is a penetration of some millimiters. If it goes all the way through, it has perforated the obstacle.

What Temperature ,as it is Fibre Glass, will the boards stand up to in a Bush Fire.?????? Currently Processing too Labour Intensive. !!! Definitely need to wear a Mask/Respirator when when cutting or Drilling penetrations as a Health precaution.

You can do as you please depending where your threat level is located. Live in a cheap multi level apartment with wood beams and flooring, might come in handy. If your apartment is above another apartment and you have cheap flooring, yes you can protect your floor. Not worth the investment if you are renting. If you have bought a cheaply built condo, it’s another story. Also worry about fire rating and what type of smoke is released by this product if involved in a fire.

In Europe we tend to build with brick exterior walls and concrete block for interior walls so this is not a problem.

Not true, have you ever saw the cops are military shoot up something? Do you think if a Humvee with a 50 BMG mounted on it ever pulls up and orders you out of your house they would just shoot at the door? No I assure you they will shoot at the weakest spot which is not your door probably, and make their own door inside. You'll probably call it a hole in your wall though.

Wouldn't it make more sense to for once don't build your house out of cardboard anymore? I can not imagine a brick or even concrete wall be much more expensive then kevlar. And it improves heat isolation and would withstand nature, like tornados significant better. But I guess I am just a smug European.

Weather is a concrete block solid filled with concrete in the cores or poured concrete. It’s going to stop way more threats in than any of these fiberglass panels and be cheaper. Besides, you’re only using it for the outside walls of the room

So? If it won't allow a bullet to penetrate it, how exactly is it supposed to become attached to the studs? Can it actually be nailed?? How? If a slug traveling at 1300fps won't go through it, how is a nail gun going to sink that wallboard into the stud??

Thick steel sheets are cheaper than this stuff. Or buying the steel rifle targets then welding them together would be less money. Those panels are stupid overpriced. Who they selling to? Maybe the White House?
