What if we told you that getting better at BJJ wasn’t all about what techniques you knew and how athletic you were?
Sounds cool… What’s it all about then?
In this episode we dive into one of the biggest problems we see in the BJJ world.
All across the globe, students show up to training 2, 3, 4 times per week, grind it out on the mats, but still don’t seem to progress as fast as others do. Is it talent? Is it genetics?
What if we told you it wasn't any of those, but that it came down to how you applied yourself to the learning process…?
HOW you learn BJJ is something that is not often discussed, but if you look around at some of the greatest coaches and competitors of all time, you will see there is a common thread there. Being able to apply yourself to the training process will produce astronomical gains both on the mats and in the gym
In this episode we dive into this idea and discuss simple strategies that you can apply right now to get the most out of your BJJ training.
If this episode resonates with you, let us know in the comments below!

I am starting to jutsu again after 15 years off. I feel so humbled. It is incredibly difficult. This is wonderful content for me. I grew up wrestling so I just want to grind. I know that is not the way.

Awesome podcast! Great information. Once I decided to train less I found that my training sessions were more intentional and therefore more productive. Great advice for beginner and advanced students of the game.

Really needed to hear these words. Trying to juggle being a dad to two and a husband while working construction. Just want to make sure I get those two sessions in and work on bullet proof at home 2-3 times a week all I can do if I’m lucky.

Hahaha I'm always the guy to ask for a demonstration one more time. This past week, I could tell my coach was getting frustrated teaching this movement to a white belt. I'm a white belt too but I used to do judo so I pick it up a little faster.

The blind leading the blind bit hit close to home 😢 I've definitely gave out advice as a white belt. I've showed guys that didn't know any submissions a fundamental submissions before. Showed a big guy a head and arm choke from mount and showed a skinny boi a arm drag triangle from bottom. Both guys didn't know any subs and didn't watch the sport, so they were completely new. Meanwhile I'm submitting all of my peers several times per round, and threatening submissions and having entertaining rolls with the blue belts. I try not to give advice but I feel so bad when somebody is passive and hopeless ya know

We all do our best to share and help others. its only over time and through experience that you realise that sometimes this can be misguided. You do the best you can.

I have another white belt I drill with sometimes and he gives me all kinds of feed back. It honestly messes up my sets lol, hes nitpicking every grip, no stop, you need to be higher on the collar here, no higher than that. Post up on your elbow when you go for that grip. etc etc. And all Im trying to do is lock in pivoting my hips lol.

I get that you don't want to practice new / difficult skills when tired. I do wonder if there isn't some benefit in practicing some simple - already embedded skills when tired - just to prove that you can still pull that out of the hat when under pressure.

Absolutely there is. This is essentially the basis of developing conditioning/capacity

Traditional GJJ solves these problems, by having a CURRICULUM. KJJ Kama Jiu Jitsu .
@Jdac333

So, the curriculum is set? Forever? With no changes? Who decides that?
@awol2019

@@Jdac333 As with any academy/gym/club, the owner or Professor.

@@awol2019 yeah but you said Traditional GJJ solves the problem…So therefore there can never be any adaptations or changes as it all stems from Helio Gracie. So if there is even one minor change it no longer is GJJ is it?
