Hey Bullet, I've been using this Motive Bleeder for over 10 years now. I have some tips that will help you make sure you have zero air in your system. First, that bleeder hose is way too short. As soon as you start closing the bleeder, air is going back in esp. if its right on the cusp of the bleeder valve (on the inside). To prevent that, find a longer hose and run the end of that hose into a catch can that has clean brake fluid in it. What I did was I drilled a hole into a Gatorade bottle (which has a firm lid) and ran the bleeder hose into it. Fill it full of fluid and run the end of the hose into it. When you set this all up for each caliper, make sure the level of fluid in this catch bottle is *higher* than the bleed valve itself. The pressure of the outgoing fluid will run up the hose and down into the catch can. Because of this (and physics) and the hose end being under clean fluid in the catch can, there is no way there will be reverse pressure and any chance of air going back into the bleed valve and back into your caliper. Otherwise thanks for documenting in your video. Good job!

Nice work. I'll point out that you don't need to worry about entraining air around the bleeder screw on a pressure bleeding system. On a vacuum system, yes, but not on a pressure system. Also, as others have pointed out, Teflon tape will not stand up to brake fluid. If you're using a vacuum bleeder system and you keep seeing air bubbles, smear some grease around the bleeder threads.

When you replace your pads, don't just squeeze the caliper pushing the fluid up into the cylinder. Have a hose attached to the bleeder, crack the bleeder open, then squeeze. The fluid will go out the hose and not back up into the lines.
@BulletSolano
@BulletSolano 5 лет назад
Thanks I always do that, because the fluid in the calipers is the most burn and old fluid on the system

You were concise; you gave Clear direction with few words, other guys say too much. 3.The camera work was excellent, we saw what we needed to see..how to use the product with our own hands. Thank you so much. Keep up the good work. 👍

The teflon tape is not needed at all. You should not get air bubbles unless you have air in the brake system. It's pressurized so no air can get in there. That's only when you use a vacuum bleeder.

On older Volvo cars, the 2-person procedure can do more harm to the master cylinder. Thanks for providing an inspirational video.

Good video. Sometimes bubbles can form with air sucking past the cracked bleeder threads...it’s not an issue but I would not bother with teflon tape as brake fluid will disintegrate that tape as others have mentioned. I have this same unit and I always clean it out with denatured alcohol so the residual brake fluid does not eat away at the tank and lines. Any spills are best to wipe and spray brake kleen on heavily. I like to use wearever brake kleen from advance because it evaporates very quickly and does not smell nasty like carb cleaner. The CRC brand and others smell just like carb cleaner and don’t evaporate as quickly as wearever. As far as pressure I like to run about 10 PSI for starters and see how that works as I like to run pressure bleeders on the least pressure possible to get the fluid flowing so as not to damage any internal seals.

good video but I just wanted to share my experience with the 1107 cap adapter for Subaru - it damaged my reservoir tank flanges when putting it on. The fit is very tight, extreme care should be taken when putting the 1107 cap onto the reservoir tank. As it says in the FAQ on their website, when using the 1107 you need to fully press down the cap then turn clockwise to lock in place. I think the damage happened when trying to seat the cap. I was really careful but still ended up with damage. I'm not sure I can trust using it again with that adapter.

Teflon tape on the bleeder screws has no purpose when using a pressure bleeder. That's only done with a vacuum bleeder. That's one reason that a pressure bleeder is the best option for one person bleeding.

PTFE tape should not be used on the brake bleeding nipples, if they look wet then you need new new nipples, if it still persist after that then you need to replace the calipers, cost less than a new family to replace.

@BulletSolano
@BulletSolano 5 лет назад
Thanks, I used the turkey baster
@abyssalsoul6216
@abyssalsoul6216 4 года назад
@@BulletSolano One tip to remove the excess fluid is to tip the Motive bottle so that the pickup tube is not in contact with any fluid in the bottle. Since the bottle is pressurized open any bleed nipple( screw) and the excess will flow to that brake caliper cylinder . Once the level in the reservoir is ideal tighten the nipple and you will be set. Now, you will need to know where the pickup tube is in the bottle so what I do is mark its position on the outside as it will not be visible once the bottle cap is on.

Thank you sir. Very good job on the video and the safety. As others mentioned about the Teflon tape, it really doesn't do anything for brake bleeder nipples. But still, I think you did a darn good job regarding this video, especially pointing out the safety items. Not many people do that. No one can be perfect at any video they do, but yours was darn close. I was considering a MityVac for doing my brakes, but honestly, I think this looks much easier to work with and more of what I'm used to (someone usually pushing the pedal down to create the pressure). Again, I appreciate your time to make and post the video. One other thing, after each wheel did you pump up the bottle back to 15 psi? I would imagine as you release the fluid from each caliper, the psi pressure will go down naturally, so I'm wondering if you pumped each one back up to 15 psi before you started on the new caliper/wheel. :)

Yes do it without the e-brake

@@Fily20 the e brake is a mechanical brake and having it on while bleeding will not change anything.

You're not pumping the brake fluid, you're pumping air into the system that 'pushes' the brake fluid through the system.
