I’ve been guilty of bullying too. Just had to realize that a friend I kept close to me for so long actually DID bully me in high school. I forgave her for those behaviors, moved on from it, and remained close for years. But I never identified the behavior as bullying. It was tho. Calling me names to put me down and making jokes at my expense. Other people I didn’t consider myself close to would join in. Calling me slow. Boys putting their hands on me as if that was okay. Excluding me in my face and then talking about it to me. Called me on 3-way and then just hung up me. I still allowed it. I put up with it and never realized what I was allowing. Altho I did distance myself from a lot of people overall. Except for that one friend. I just had to realize certain passive aggressive behaviors from this friend that continued on, which was not okay. I started to call them out on it too. And that they were actually manipulative and I had to realize it existed since high school (we were in our mid 20s by then) and it was messing with my mind. I kept trusting them. It was still my fault for allowing it and never setting boundaries, mostly because I just never had that full awareness.

You People is based more on Guess Who with Bernie Mac and Ashton Kutcher. And Guess Who is the literal adaptation of Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner (1967) starring Sidney Poitier, Spencer Tracy, and Katharine Hepburn. Personally the humor/chemistry between Eddie and Jonah was kinda lackluster compared to that between Ashton and Bernie. Which is weird because they’re both great actors especially in their background w/ comedy. I think the plot, pacing, script, etc. screwed the cast over. It’s like Kenya Barris and Jonah wanted to recreate the “magic” that Guess Who had, but dropped the ball.
