Props to that 800m runner, went out alone and dropped a sub 1:54 when the pressure was on.

A bit of history: In 1968 I ran on a team that won the Canadian U18 championship in this event. We ran 400, 200,200, 800. I ran a 21.6 for the first 200. I'm sure we weren't as fast as this team, but it was much fun. We had to get on the bus to the airport with spikes still on and never got our gold medals.

They even said that Bullis came in 3 seconds under the national record before this event. It must be that these times weren't run in sanctioned races for the times to be ratified.

these medleys suck. too much resting on the runner who covers the most distance. all you need is a gun on the last leg, and some other runners to get you around the mark and then you have a NR.

Quincy has great speed but he has poor form and he lacks the maturity to control his position in the lane. At the international level he will be a 800m runner and he will have to work on his race maturity.

He’s a sophomore in hs bro lol that will come. A LOT of us didn’t have great form in hs. Besides that, that kid is strong as hell and beyond his age
@KW-wr3xv
@KW-wr3xv 4 месяца назад
Bro what?? He has the potential for the 800m but aint no way you're saying that when he's broken 46 as a freshman. Not to mention, not being able to control position in the lane doesn't mean he should move to the 800 lmao. He doesn't have a problem with this outdoor.
@christansdad
@christansdad 4 месяца назад
@@Kenaz2226 He's not strong. He is quite weak. He is fast because he is very light and has an incredible stride length. As I said last year after the Penn Relays, he reminds me of former 800m runner Mark Everett. That will be where he tops out in ability and at the international level he will move from 400m to 800m.
@christansdad
@christansdad 4 месяца назад
@@KW-wr3xv Nearly every high school runner finds that their best event in college and the pros is double the length of their best high school distance. In other words, most 200m runners become 400m runners. Most 400m runners become 800m runners. At the lower levels they are able to dominate their competition because they have greater speed. The next level up, every one has similar speed and they incoming runners find the increased endurance from greater training makes them better at a distance double the length of their best high school distance. He will be a 800m runner as a professional.

@@christansdad most lower level high schoolers double their distance in college. I went to college as a 1:50 guy in the 800 and stuck to my event, I had a bunch of teammates who ran low 4:0xs in highschool and are now 3:54/3:53 milers, a lot of people stay true to their event…
