As a person living in the deep south, this sort of thing is fascinating to me. Down here, anyone with a truck has one just to say they have a truck. You, on the other hand, take AWESOME trucks that have been left for dead and give 'em a new lease on work life. And work they DO! Thank you for the intensified slice of north woods life! Cheers!

There are plenty of people up north that have a truck and don’t use it for it’s intended purpose ever. There are guys driving around lifted ram Cummins trucks with low profile wheels, street tires and the trucks have never seen a dirt road, snow or anything in the bed other than a cooler and maybe a couple fat chicks.

Makes me sad that I hardly ever see them around anymore. I guess I'm part of the problem though, I have an '86 F250 4x4 with the 460 V8 that I parked years ago when gas went up to what it is now for awhile. The water pump went out, so I decided that it didn't make sense to spend money to fix and drive a vehicle that only gets about 8 mpg, and leaks oil so bad that I never had to change it because it was always clean, but it eventually wound up on the ground under the truck. I love that truck though, it was a beast! I put 3" true daul exhaust with 24" long glasspacks on it...I could drive by vehicles parked on the side of the road and romp on it and it would set off all the car alarms, lol.

Your climate seems like ours here in Newfoundland on the other side of the continent. 10 months of winter and 2 months of bad snowmobiling. Yes you can't kill a ford 300 inline 6. Had one in my uncles 77 ford. Then it went into a 79 then an 83. Finally it ended up powering a saw mill. We still use it.

@eyellgeteven9928

Yep, those old 300s were torquey engines that would run forever. I guarantee the only reason most of the trucks that had them, were scrapped because of the bodies rotting out, not because they quit running.

Worked for a local school district for 35 years and plowed school parking lots for all of those 35 years. Went through five trucks. Four F350's and one GMC 2500. The district only had one forklift and it wasn't at the high school. So, during plow season when the tailgate salt spreader was on the truck you could not open the tailgate, so I threw 80lb. bags of salt up over the side. 30 in the morning which equals 60 because you had to lift them a second time up to the hopper, slice it open. Then throughout the day it would continue to snow so you had to plow and add more salt to the parking lot. Now it is evening and there is a basketball game, wrestling match. band concert or schoolboard meeting, always something going on. Lots and lots of eighty- pound bags. Retired now and two operations one to remove hemorrhoids and one for back surgery trying to enjoy retirement.

Obviously very cool. You have some legendary cold starts which I really enjoy watching.. There is a lot of positivity no doubt but the pushbutton for ignition start is kind of silly. While functional, a much better fix would be to replace the actual ignition switch which is mounted on the steering column. Its a $10 part held by 2 bolts, easy out easy in, so not sure why there are many people that install a push button switch. The worst part is if the ignition switch is going out, it will continue to deteriorate and cause the truck to lose power, among other issues...
