Was getting ready for bed, and realized that these two instruments were incredibly similar in their movement. I thought that it might be possible to combine the two for an interesting sound. Here is the prototype that I came up with after a minute of drilling. As I note in the video I don't know if these already exist. If they do leave a comment letting me know where to find them. This is the first prototype. I will try to build a more prototypes in the next few days, I have some different designs planned.

I'm not familiar with any of this but that is actually cool as hell, I'm fascinated by the bullroar's sound.

The bullroarer is an instrument that was found globally in ancient cultures. Aboriginal Australia, Europe, the Americas, the Mediterranean, etc. It is still used in some traditional religious rituals. It's also a very efficient communication device. By controlling the length of the string and the speed of the spin you can perform pulse-based communication (think a prehistoric morse code or an audio smoke signal). You can't pick it up on the recording or your speakers, but in addition to the high-frequency buzz, the bullroarer also emits low-frequency sounds that can be heard for several miles when there are no cars around. It's pretty cool, in my next design, I'm going to try to use the windwand element to maximize the low frequency. This one maxed out the high frequency sounds.

Thanks! I like to let my brain chew on these phenomena to distract me from my science.

nice video man... reminds me of stuff my shaman uncle used to make us make as kids.... the rubber band is used because in the old days they used animal intestines because they didnt believe in wasting any part of the animal as the native american culture is ... so its interesting that youd make this cause most people dont even know of both mixed its actually very old im surprised no ones come up with it besides you in a video ...

I love the sounds your getting out of that instrument! Ingeniously simple! You could drill holes all along the stick, to vary the pitch.I’m going to make my own. Thanks for the inspiration!

X-File. 111 Has anyone else noticed that at 4:12 and 4:17 just when it found it’s natural resonant frequently and pitch that’s when what looked like Several orbs of light appears on frame there is about 6 or 7 of them in the clip ,,,, or ,,,,, are they just dust he stirred up. Or are they just bugs / moths / jumping spiders Or do I need glasses 👀

What if you make holes further and further into the middle from the ends and have more strings (I guess flat strings?) to make more frequencies for the windwand noise? And the middle stick also needs more holes maybe, I guess the strings cannot touch? I haven't seen how the windwand works.

Thants sounds great. try to get pitch to change by some machanism. would be cool if string length spin direction changes the sound.

But I do think you're supposed to swing it a little slower to get the rythym out of it.
