/ scottie33pippen / pip33assassn Scottie Pippen scores 27 points and adds 7 assists, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks to lead the Bulls to a Game 3 victory over the Orlando Magic in the 1996 Eastern Conference Finals
Absolutely!!, 80’s and 90’s I was really young, living in Mexico 🇲🇽 I, used to Watch all the NBA games, I didn’t want to miss any second of the game, now I definitely don’t watch NBA or I just turn the TV off.
No disrespect to Kerr or Kukoc or the rest of that fantastic bulls team from this three peat, but that trio could have played on any team with any system and coach in 96 and they would have won a championship.
I miss those days. My sister and brother was cheering for the Bulls. I loved the Orlando Majic because of A. Hardaway. Plus, the NBA seemed so exciting back then because of Michael Jordan. Now...I don't feel that excitement anymore.
I hope everyone remembers how young this magic team was, in no way in their prime. Its like if they were playing the 87 bulls. Penny started having injury problems before he hit his prime, and shaqs prime was clearly winning 3 straight finals mvps under phil jackson. The bulls never really played anyone good.
NBA ON NBC was the best.... The build up to the games was great! Loved those bulls games it was so exciting being in Chicago watching the bulls was mandatory lol! I remember NBC having triple and double headers on Sundays those games were great too!
@2414kels nbc's Olympics coverage was the gold standard, too. There's old footage of other networks running the Olympics coverage, big yawn! On NBC it was "hold on to your seats for the curling finals!" LOL
Ppl don't know how strong Dennis really was. He was able to contain Shaq most of the time and that's impressive for his size. I think he's like 6-7,or 6-8.
Making Gainz And I love Shaq for this. We already got more than enough players with very good skills like Toni Kukoc and Penny Hardaway. But for a very big and heavy guy. Shaw is able to control his body and move quickly. Shaq was unique.
what do you want from me?!? Aren'T you happy with your result - me being isolated in my room while you jump up and down happily with your buddies outside?!?
pippen was so incredible both ends of the court, defense, scoring you name it one of the greatest player, MJ must had been so lucky to have pippen on his side
the way the bulls dismantled this really good team is crazy. orlando gave up at the end of this game and just knew no matter what they did they were not going to win. This team went to the finals the year before and had 2 of the top 10 players in the league on the same team and two of the best 3 point shooters ever on their team.
Young team V veterans...not a a magic fan but that team had so much potential no shame in losing to that bulls team, the best team of the modern era by some distance...they would maul any team playing today.., Hardaway in particular, he was an outstanding player never fulfilled his potentail
The Magic had injuries throughout the series that played a big factor in them getting swept. It's funny how when the Rockets swept them in the Finals people say "the Magic were young" but when the Bulls sweep them and they were missing key players it's seen as "impressive". 🙄
It's a rarity that MJ had a sub par GAME in the playoffs, much less a bad series. But Pip stepped up and got his shine like the legendary player he is!
Golden State is a far more superior offensive team than this Orlando team...but a great team is still a great team. In the mid 90s, the Magic were definitely championship contenders, they won 60+ games that year. And for the Bulls to sweep them the way they did in '96 shows how great the Bulls team was.
I dont agree with far more superior offensive team... The magic team is without a doubt can be a three point specialist in this era and with shaq and penny they can be lethal anywhere in the floor...
I don't think they are far superior offensively. If they have an advantage it would be on defense. Even then, they'd have no answer for Shaq. If you can't rebound you can't run. Bad matchup for GSW.
The Magic supposedly had a huge matchup advantage w/Shaq in the low post, after the Bulls figured that out they were able to handle them. That was the only position the Bulls were somewhat vulnerable in and Rodman was usually the answer there on defense.
I get why everyone always talks about numbers and offense, but this Bulls team might have been the best defensive team I've ever seen. When the best two players in the league are then paired up with one of the all time great rebounders and defensive players like Rodman (who was once their nemesis) they just had the ability to completely shut you down and they weren't selective about it. It didn't matter whom they played, if they were all healthy it didn't matter who your best players were, the game was basically over before it started. Those 90's Bulls teams could have been a force in any era and been dominant.
Scottie played great during this game he was limited offensively during the playoffs in 96 because of a ankle injury that was operated on during the 96 off season but this gm he was dominant.
Seriously, how the hell do the refs call those bad flops when they’ve seen hard physical play before? That elbow Salley got from Shaq, a lot worse than Draymond Green kicking people in the nuts. And then they flop without any respect to physics.
@@knicks8099 you like the pinky touch fouls and bullshit technicals they call these days??? Go watch Pistins vs. Celtics of the 80s, lakers vs. Celtics of 80s, bulls pistons 90s, bulls knicks 90s, Knicks heat Charlotte 90s, bulls heat 90s, utah jazz 80s and 90s. Then talk your UFC crap. Basketball is meant to be physical. Come talk this crap here on the westside and Southside of Chicago...LOL
But ppl get mad at stars joining each other now smfh. Ron Harper was damn near on Jordan and definitely was on pippens level before he went to the bulls
What? NBA players these days are superbly skilled. on average much more so than in the 80s/90s. In particular tall players now play largely positionless. They need to handle the ball and shoot extremely well. Look at Anthony Davis or Antetokounmpo. Even shooters today are better ball handlers than their peers in the 80s/90s. Luc Longly or Bill Wennigton would not play much today. Compare them with the skill set of Marc or Pau Gasol.
omnivorous65 - they play in much easier conditions which give them so much more space and nobody is allowed to impede the forward progress of an offensive player. They couldn't play that way back in those days. Today, everything is a foul. And they have face up moves but no post moves because of the soft conditions of today. These guys here had to play out of the post because the lane is always clogged - while today, every possession is spread offense. Crossovers when nobody can put their hands on you is a piece of cake. These guys had to bang around and crash the boards every possession and push constantly to keep guys from crossing the lane so they could grab offensive boards. These guys from the past needed other skills that today's guys simply don't have - and would cry about with all the contact. These guys here could easily play in today's conditions. And all of them would love to play with the freedom of movement allowed today with the no physicality rules.
omnivorous65 - and you're comparing Luc Longley to today's best players? Ewing, Olajuwon and David Robinson would easily matchup with those guys. Too many today know nothing about yesterday's game and buy into media hype and nonsense. Next, you'll say LBJ is better than Jordan which is utterly laughable.
The 96 Orlando Magic and 01 Spurs had to be the most demoralized teams in NBA history. At least the Spurs got revenge in 03. The Bulls basically broke up the Shaq- Penny duo in Orlando. Penny shaking his head like, "we can't do anything against this team."
@@TheCancerkilla that's bullshit, the magics had the second best record in the nba plus made it to thd conference finals. you must be smoking something to say that, the fact is Jordan and the bulls were too good.
Scottie is not better than lebron stop it ... lebron is a better passer than anyone I've seen besides magic ... and prime lebron was a beast on defense ...
@@reddrumm5618 lebron maybe a better passer but PIP a bettet FACILITATOR. Lebron dont have the IQ to facilitate the triangle, scottie did it MASTERFULLY. Overall, scottie the better defender and the better facilitator. Give scottie D Wade and they will win 6 lol
in any other era this Magic teams dominates and wins a title. then who knows they may have never disbanded and Penny may not have rushed back too soon from injury if Shaq never leaves and they become one of the greatest dynasties ever? Penny may have retired as the 2nd best pg of all-time and a top 10 player all-time? so many what ifs. maybe in an alternate universe..
Hero 3 ....Yeah, aaahh-ight!!😂😂 The 1999-2000 Lakers woulda smoked the '96 Bulls. Shaq was unguardable and 2000 Kobe was right there with '96 MJ. Lakers also had more depth/better players off the bench than the '96 Bulls.
@@theloverswineverytime1625 Shaq was unguardable? He laid an egg during the entire series, the Bulls strongest attribute were their swarming defense, and Shaq was virtually a non factor. The 2000 lakers would be destroyed by this Bulls team.
I watched a lot of bull clips here on RU-vid and noticed rodman has the defense fooled he hits open jumpers has dripping skills but acts like he ain't got offense.
@@janickimusic Some person named DJM accused LeBron James of being lazy as a defender but he/she forgot about how he SHUT DOWN DERRICK ROSE in the year of '10 the year Rose was awarded the league MVP and LBJ weighed 260 chasing around a 200 point guard.
After going through the likes of Detroit and New York in years past, Orlando wouldn't pose a any sort of challenge. The only other team that gave the Bulls a hard time were the Pacers
AN Borroms Its always like that in the playoff conference the best teams in the league usualy don have problems in 1st and second round. The problems usualy come during finals and NBA finals.... What the Rockets did in 94 and 95 its wired and not usual. Same with the Knicks in 99. They werent the best teams but between a better perfomance of there leaders and good match ups made this kind of things posible.
67 points for 4 quarters? With young O'Neal??? I mean only 67 points? Really? I love oldschool basketball for that! Today's good defence is considered to be spoken of if the team keeps opponents under 100... And there we had under 67! How bold is that? "23+33+91=four trophies" for real :-)
godonio84: dude same here! I can't stop watching this series, especially game 3 & 4. I have literally watched this at LEAST 15 times and still love it! unfortunately we can not say the same thing about the NBA today =\
