Imagine not being a local to his area and one just walk out in the park by a play ground and see a guy just out there big ass smile on his face cracking whips laughing lol
Stock whips all day long. I still crack the black & mahogany stock whips you made almost everyday. I love them sooooo much! I think they were the first ones you ever made. If I use the smaller black kevlar poppers, it's easier to crack, but quieter. The yellow poppers are louder, and more durable.
Those were some of my first! I'm so glad you like those. I made the red and black pair I have in this video for myself. Now that I have them, I need to get out and work on my two handed cracking more!
Made my first Bull whip a couple of weeks ago. My neighbor is a cowboy so I showed it to him and the first thing he said was I needed to put a handle on it. 4 foot with 8 inch handle. He had no problem cracking it. My attempt was laughable.
Roohide whips are a different ball game altogether , The Australian stockwhip mainly uses a balanced n reinforced tohiti cane handle , some people shot load them , ive been taught not to has the load can blowout through the side .The bull whip ive never really got into making .All whips are funs to use
@@whipworks4468 I have made a few paracords whips ,what I found is that they performed better when the handle is balanced , I poured 30mm of lead into the back of handle cant remember off hand what size drill bit maybe 10mm , I use bigger on tohiti cane and go deeper for my roohide whips
Haha, I hear you. While I do love whips and whip making, I am not ignorant to the stigma that it has from the way they were used during American slavery and beyond. I've thought of doing a video on this, but it's such a loaded topic and I don't feel like I'd be the best voice to explore it. Either way, thank you so much for watching my content!
Yeah I’d like to see more comparisons, but with similar things like a 5ft ph vs 5ft stock, as a 4ft and 6ft will be different, so keeping length and materials similar would be good.
I watched this video to understand how whips work for animating whips.😅 Let me tell you if there was a contest of “which one _looks_ better while using and easier to animate” I’d say bullwhips win! They look extremely smooth and they _flow_ compared to stockwhips.
For the db test, you're correct in that an affordable meter won't be at all accurate with such a loud and short sound, however, they will allow you to accurately compare the SPL of one whip to another with a simple accommodation. All you need to do is increase the distance from the sound event to the meter, and the best way to do this is to get far enough away that your meter is reading within a more comfortable range, below 95db if you're using a simple/cheap meter. You won't be able to make exact measurements, only relative measurements, i.e. this whip is louder than the other. It's one of the ways I used to measure the effectiveness of my homemade silencers compared to commercial silencers, and the relative measurements of all the commercial silencers fell in line with their published ratings.
Potentially would have had a different outcome with ease of use if you did different cracks. Stock whips seem really good at direction changing cracks like the cattle man, but I really struggle using them for flicks.
If you go on RU-vid and search suppressor testing. You will come up with a whole bunch of guys that have decibel readers that you could use. I'm sure they would love to let you run your bullwhip next to the decibel meter. That way you wouldn't have to buy one
Suggestion: one way to "measure " the volume produced in a freaking of a whip could be to digitally record the cracking, and then look at the digital signal, then measure the amplitude of the spike with the same audio editor used to the recording. Differences in amplitude are like differences in volume (simplistically, but ok).... You just want to get an idea of difference in volume, so: you don't have to measure the volume in decibels. Just a thought. Thanks
This is a very interesting idea! I've yet to have an audio track that did not peak when the whip cracks, but I wonder if the gain was set as low as possible if this would work
@@whipworks4468 it depends on the sensitivity of the microphone. And you would need to get a Directional type of microphone, and crack the whips all at a certain distance to the mic. I would put the mic perpendicular to the whipping direction. And if the background noise is low (and constant), you crack the whip further away from the mic. But don't use the standard Omnidirectional type of mic that a lot of people use when doing public speaking (would pick up lots of other noises). You also have Gain Control in the Mixer (where the mic or mics connect)... But make sure that whatever Recorder you use (don't use a Smartphone) doesn't automatically use AGC (automatic gain control), for that would ruin your experiment. One day, maybe i can find a video of a Bull Whip bring used on dominating a bull. In there old days send like build and views were moved together.
Actually, I would recommend a 6 or 7 foot bullwhip with a 10 inch handle for a beginner! The bullwhip is more fun to learn on in my opinion. While the stockwhip has a higher ease of use, it does require more precision and a refined touch.
if you make your whips half meter longer wten you dont need to to use so much hard swinging to make noize ,short one`s is nice for aiming to things .My best Whip is 4.5meters .I love the swing and cracking sound of it .Yes i made i my self ,so proud of my self.
My favorite part is when your voice was at a low level, then the intro music blasts at 10,000% the volume of your voice. That was awesome, thanks for that. What a great thing to do. Great job.
Hi. Question. Does the length of the Whip have an effect on Loudness ??? Longer=Louder ??? I’m cheap and shorter is less expensive but at the same time I wanna big crack.
What about the "cool factor"? Stockwhips don't evince images of characters like Lash LaRue, Whip Wilson, Zorro, Indiana Jones, Cat Woman, etc. Also, what about simple wraps?
This isn't what you want to hear, but repetition! Don't be afraid to make a bad whip, make a better one! Materials aren't super expensive. If money is tight, don't be afraid to unplait and replait sections until you get it right. Good luck!
I don't see the difference they both have stiff handles bull whip runs of the handle stock whip starts at the end of the handle but both have stiff handles love the green one u have very nice
The speed makes sense physically. Longer handle means longer distance between point of leverage and overall mass. So it's easier to swing if short because it take less effort to move the damn thing lol
Haha, I love this coat! It's a Land's End Parka. I've had it for about 8 years now I think? It's amazing and totally worth the price tag. Buy it nice or buy it twice kind of a thing :-) Thanks for watching!
Hey there! You can check out my design a bullwhip page on my website to see my pricing: www.whipworks.com/design-bullwhip And I charge around 50 for international shipping right now. I'd love to make a whip for you!
@@connornolan6450 You should check out this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1ct1-vabTX0.html&ab_channel=WhipWorks It may be helpful for you!
Hey there! It's definitely possible, but is it safe??? I have thought of designing a whip specifically made for this purpose, I'll have to make a video on that :-)
Bro,you should look up Addam Winrich, he's a top whip cracking champion when it come to stock whips as well as bullwhips, just saying, I also love bullwhips, stock whips look pretty kool,I'm mostly a Indiana Jones bullwhip fan,I'm have a 10-ft paracord bullwhip with shot load in it, it's a nice whip,ty for the comparison, I still have more to learn with my whip.
Please work on the audio. Your voice is pretty quiet, I turn up the volume, suddenly loud music, I reduce the volume, you start talking again, now I don't hear you anymore, I turn the volume up again, music booming again ...
Came to this video from Australia. Was looking for a different Whip maker...really you need to do a video of this? Mate these things are made to do a certain thing: that being to be able to move Stock! Mate go do a review on skateboards, wooden clogs, or a 4wD tyre.
