Cofounder of Tinder turned Founder and CEO of Bumble, Whitney Wolfe Hard sat down with Elevate's Razor Suleman during Elevate 2018 and talked about the persecution she faced following her exit from Tinder.

@@bruhno1545 making an app is nothing. Anyone can do that. The reason for its success was the millions spent in promotion. That isn’t being self made in the truest sense. She was very well connected and had access to resources and promo that you or I would not have. Ergo it’s not self made. As in she didn’t achieve those things alone or by only the sweat of her own brown which is how most people interpret the expression “self made” which of course nobody is ever really self made because we all require other inputs and people to “make it” including customers.

@@boomerz2478 if anyone can make an app than why don’t you do it? i see the point you’re trying to make but if it’s as simple for anyone to do than you could replicate her success too if you really wanted to & i believe that’s what upsets you. that she did something you couldn’t or didn’t want to pursue. anyone can create something larger than life if they put the time & effort into it. humble beginnings can shape the greatest minds to embark on a life changing journey not only for themselves but for others as well.

@bruhno1545 There's no "self made" anything. They have hundreds of employees, if not thousands, who've had a hand in generating that wealth for her. No genius billionaire could ever execute their ideas w/o workers, and in most cases, the workers are exploited with barely anything to show for it

Fair play to her on an individual level seems a good strong woman but also very personable. Personally I think these apps do more harm than good and we shouldn’t glorify app creators like this. Same with instagram and facebook. Users paint false pictures of themselves online and its not healthy for young people. As you were.
