Bumla Pass also known as Bomdila Pass, situated at an altitude of over 15,000 ft is snowbound for almost the entire year due to its steep elevation and presents a beautiful view of the Tibetan plateau. The road to the pass takes visitors through many sleepy hamlets and scenic lakes, making the drive memorable. You will come across several glacial lakes. Legends say there are 101 sacred lakes. I saw at least 10 and will not be surprised if there are more. A special permit is required for visiting the pass and can be obtained from the Office of the Deputy Commissioner in Tawang although ous was done by our Travel Agency

The road to Bum La Pass is a historical route. During the 1962 Sino-Indian War, the People's Liberation Army of China invaded India through the pass and one of the war's fiercest battles, the Battle of Bum La Pass, took place there.
