"Basically invented the solid body guitar." Leo Fender: "Say what?"
@dereklong801
@dereklong801 3 года назад
@LLOYDJARED BACANI Les Paul experimented with solid body designs before 1950, but it was not the "Les Paul." Fender released the Esquire and Broadcaster in 1950. Gibson responded by bringing in Les Paul as a consultant and released the Gibson Les Paul in 1951 and 1952. So yes, Fender was first.
@seashorerumble1380
@seashorerumble1380 3 года назад
@LLOYDJARED BACANI it is common knowledge that lots of people were experimenting with solid bodies, Leo Fender WAS however the first who got it right and made it commercially viable. In the same way he acquired the projects of an electric bass prototype that dated the 1920's (circa) , only he was able to perfect them and make the precision bass, which is for this reason considered the first electric bass

Good move on the guitarist's part. Unless it's destroyed, NEVER part with a vintage Les Paul for less than a brand new one goes for. If he put it up, he could easily get $5000 for it just on his name/history alone and where it's been. So, VERY smart move to walk away with the Les Paul in hand.

I knew it was right around between the early and mid 70s. Like I have a Les Paul myself. And I thought it was a 2010 model. And upon further inspection and investigating the serial number it turned out it was a 2003 guitar not a 2010. And also the model it was only made in 2003 and 2004. I saw it with the purple lining in the case(70's)as soon as he opened it, then the body separation, and volute. 60's serial numbers got re-used in the 70's as well, so that's fairly worthless to date them until about 76 when they put sn's on a decal.
