We continue our journey on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal, through 5 locks. We know some of you like to count the bumps as we enter the lock- so you can definitely play along to this one at home! We start our cruise at Penkridge and finish at Gailey boat yard where we are planning to moor up for a few days.

Swans, geese and ducks - all part of the entertainment of canal boating and these video channels. Lovely, graceful creatures sharing the water with the iron propeller-driven behemoths carrying their human cargo. Yet the cute little waterfowls may become an endangered species, if they don't accept the pecking order of life on planet earth. Someday, rather than picking up a bucket of fried chicken for lunch, we may be picking up some swan drumsticks, eh? ...🤣---------------😉

The swan will be attacking his own reflection as a territory thing. Think back to Peewees in Australia Anna-Marie -- constantly attacking their reflections from early in the morning, You need a dirtier boat. :) Were those your paintings of Terns on those cushions -- fabulous, I like all your art.

Be careful in those Marina's a friend of mine stopped at one with free WiFi. He went in the cafe and asked for the password for the WiFi. The man said if you by a drink first. he bought a coffee with milk and waited, he then asked again for the WiFi password "If you by a drink first the man replied he ordered a tea for his wife waited and then said can I have the WiFi password? he again waited and then asked again for the password If you buy a drink first the man said. Then the man on the next boat to his rushed up to him and said do not buy any more drinks its a trick the password for the WiFi is "If you buy a drink first", He said he bought a tray of drinks the day before , luckily a fellow boater helped him buy telling him of the trick!

Sounds like you had the best polished boat on the cut and the swan didn't like it's reflection. We were once met by an indignant swan that followed us for at least a mile pecking the back of the boat. It's not as if we were even planning to stop in its territory anyway!

Great video. I wonder if the swan was aware of the cats and anxious but I think it was probably greedy. I love your storage jars. Thanks as always for sharing. There's a 250 hectare rail freight interchange which has just been through a planning enquiry between Gailey and Four Ashes, Inspector's recommendation will be out in 3 months time. The canal goes through part of the proposed site.

Anaggressive swan annoyed my mother. She chased him off by opening and shutting her umbella and prodding it with the pointed end. Didn't hurt the bird but Ma refused to be one to run .

That winding thing you have reminds me of a chicken rotisserie I have on my grill. Do they make battery operated ones so you don’t have to do whole turning the handle manually? I realize it is exercise for a stationary lifestyle but for older people would that be helpful?

the Swan was pecking your boat because you fed it, and it thought that you was going to keep feeding it thats why it was pecking it was actually asking you where the food was, we had that problem on the Norfolk broads last year when we was moored up in a boat yard we fed swans and thats was it they kept coming over pecking the boat if we wasn't sitting outside, Once we fed them they left us alone until the next feeding time, its as though they have built in alarm clocks for feeding hours lol

Yes, true. However, other boaters also fed it... and yet it liked us the most. Yay us. I think it was a combination or a little bit of a crazy swan and being able to see its' reflection in our sides.
