Good video guys. I love that ol ford as well. I have a 71 F100 shortbox 4x4. Those cab mounts are a pain. When I go look at a old ford I look at those cab mounts as a determining factor on weather or not I see it as worth rebuilding or if it just becomes a parts truck.

I bought this truck BECAUSE of that stuff. LOL I have different criteria than most. I see episode, episode, episode...

great video guy's.... Sure wish I'd have thought of tracing a pattern of the mount, like Cam did... Looked pretty easy,,, When I did mine, I Positioned the piece and scratched around it... Then removed it and drilled my holes from underneath... NOT FUN,,, The little metal shards coming off of it hitting Bare skin,, Felt like a bunch of Fireants Biting the Heck out of me... Looking good..... "And while we're HERE"... lol

Hi, I have a question. I am restoring a ‘68 f100 but it’s on a ‘77 frame so I don’t know what replacement rubber cab mounts to buy either the ‘77 or ‘68. If anyone knows that would help a lot. Thanks. Great video

Thank you!! How much of this will apply to a 1970 F-250? From the work I've already done, it seems to be pretty common between my 250 and your 100.

The big changes on the F250 and the F100 are the frame, rear axle and brakes. Cab mounts and what not are the same.

I see a piece of vinyl or something between the big washer and the bottom of the cab mount, what is that?

I think you are talking about the rubber isolators

Use OEM parts instead of the cheap aftermarket parts.

Not always an option on most of the old stuff we work on but I agree

I just bought the more expensive cab mounts and bent the ends as you did in the video and they still don’t even come close to cozying up flush with the floor pan. I’m talking like an inch of space on the side closest to the driveline.

@@AutoRestoMod I ended up having to really re-bend the heck out of the cab mount to get it to fit snug. I noticed that if they had spot welded the two pieces together just a quarter inch closer together it would have saved me from all the grief! It’s just like you said, it would be helpful if they sent the two pieces separate.

I didn't realize that concourse F-100s were a thing...

Oh yeah, not that there is a judging sheet (that I am aware of), but I know of several that have been hyper-correct restorations.

instead of making the template wouldn't it have been easier to mark the floor under neath, remove the cab mount and just drill from the bottom instead?
@AutoRestoMod
@AutoRestoMod 4 года назад
Could be. I find some awesome ways of doing things via the comments. Dad alsways said there is more than one way to skin a cat.

@@AutoRestoMod you are right, everyone has different ways to do it, i'll be doing this little project on my 67 this spring and was checking video's for that very reason.

HAHAHAHA Shi Thead HATES air tools. We used them a good bit between scenes. She assumes that air hose s a BIG ass predatory cat that will gobble her up whole and usually only comes home when lunch calls.
