This sucks, step down Pete. Bungie's tweet regarding the layoffs: / 1818667682126086183 Liana Ruppert's Twitter: / dirtyeffinhippy Have as good of a day as you can, Guardian (all things considered).
This woke stuff has gotta stop. Sorry but I just don't care about the employees. They know better than anyone what their industry outlook looks like. The CEO can do what he wants with his money, though, how this has all played out will professionally follow him. Generational fumble of 10 years of momentum. The Interesting news to me this week is the plan forward. Into the light is such good content. They built it on the idea of a hoard. I wonder if they could build activities on top of an escape room, Bring back SRL, reasons to play weekly
@@DylonSan fake virtue is the real insane thing here. Bungie over hired durring covid inflation, and are back down to a manageable situation. No one is being subjected to something inhuman. Devs etc are certainly aware of their job outlooks etc. Just reality. Were poor decisions made? For sure. Do we need to give devs free handouts because the bets didn't pan out? No. Very sad and hopefully they land fairly well though. I'm way more excited, that Bungie is again narrowing it's focus to one project, marathon, and has a bit of a good reserve project to keep generating a bit of cash. Y'all gotta chill with all the doom and gloom all the time, things are never as good or bad as they seem
Everyone deserves job security. And you don't know me, so don't say this is a "fake virtue".Doom and gloom is a stretch. The future can be bright. They just have to handle it right. This isn't handling it right. Pete is spending frivolously, the optics of that are bad. Him green lighting multiple projects, also on him. It's not on the employees who lost jobs they loved. Their boss screwed them. And he's safe. That's corporate America.
@@DylonSan essential service workers / govt employees are about the only folks who should remotely have something close to job security. Other than that, no. A game dev doesn't deserve job security lmao. You people all want participation trophies, when the reality, is that the company is just too large to sustain the size it grew to. Transparency is owed, for sure, not a permanent job. Where do you think cash comes from. If the company is too large and spread too thin, not even destiny will succeed. Cutting back is ultimately a good thing for Bungie. Also Again, that's Pete's money. Optics or not He can do with it what he wants, and crying about cutting excess isn't going to help. You mistake that Bungie is doing bad, rather than just not able to keep up with the spending bubble that covid created. Welcome to the real world, hopefully this all woke people up about the realities of how hard it is to run all of this, and how to set proper expectations.
