Good to see your technical mastery of old technology at the forefront. Those years in the Steelworks finally paid off.

It was getting the rubber band off his sandwich box that gave him the knack.

I bought Heat Treatment the week it came out. 1976 I think. Played it to death and I still think it's their best album. They were initially part of the pub rock scene in 1975 but the following year punk came along and robbed them of the media attention they deserved. The critics were all over Elvis Costello at the time, but Graham was always his equal and a better songwriter and singer too in my opinion. One of the best live bands of the era and half a dozen great albums, then that was it. Graham's made many fine solo albums though, occasionally featuring one or two of the Rumour. You're looking well on it after your two weeks in the sun. Better weather than we've had here anyway. Cheers Mal...

You did give us a laugh our Mal 😄 Those vacation. stena line ferry entertainers repetoir is entirely set in sort of a 10 year musical world spanning from 1968 to 1978 and even new recruits born decades after are doing the same songs. Who are they playing for? Love the Housemartins. Their second album is very important as it introduced Dave Hemmingway to Paul Heaton, pivotal for the later success of the wonderful Beautiful South (who I’ve shown in some later videos as I’ve started collecting their vinyl). Emotional Rescue is one of my favorite Stones albums. Think it’s brilliant. Recently played my OG copy for the first time in probably 30 years. And it was in good nick! Had to put my copy of Tattoo You away. It was in a dire condition. Hope you’re as well after your holiday as you look. Cheers from Morten 😊

Nice video. I love when little notes and names are written on albums. I even have one where a lady wrote her name on it and then painstakingly and carefully transcribed all the lyrics on the inner sleeve. I hope you had a great holiday and it's doing you good. Keep the great content coming.

I’ve never been north of Winchester mate, your safe 😂 Yeah that Housemartins has some great stuff. ‘Bow Down’ ‘The Light Is Always Green’ Every Housemartins tune was political, that takes some doing. I showed that Graham Parker album ‘Sparks’ fantastic.

Hey Mal, for your penance lister to ABBA’s great hits three times. Mike is a very shifty character indeed, you can never be too careful. Great Neil Young, Stones, and the fab Graham Parker. He’s never put out a bad album, so overlooked. Cheers.

Love Green On Red. Saw them in the 80s touring that album, at Newcastle Riverside club. Housemartins great too. And the wonderful Graham Parker. The first four albums are essential, and he managed to put out several excellent albums throughout the 80s and 90s. Nice haul. 👏🏻 Which record shops in Newcastle (and nearby) would you recommend. I'm up there occasionally but usually end up in Reflex or Windows and, as you know, they focus on new vinyl. And yes, I'm still here. Get that belt sorted. 😂

Cheers David. In Newcastle I use the following for 2nd hand vinyl: BeatDownRecords (just round corner from railway station-turn left half way up Pink Lane); Vinyl Guru (bottom end of Westgate Rd-nr station); Reflex (now has 2/3 crates of 2nd hand vinyl on counter-often some decent stuff); Amnesty Books (small selection of records-100 yds further up Westgate R from vinyl guru. The others I use in the region are nearer my neck of the woods. There's a huge selection in Kiwi trading in Osborne Rd, hartlepool, and a great friendly store (RPM) on Wingate Main St.

What's the name of the artist again that you played? And I had to watch this video since not many people talk about the Housemartins and you were showing the album in your thumbnail! New sub!

Cheers Stephen - The artist is a lad called James Leonard Lewiston, from my home town of Hartlepool, in the North East of England. His album 'Only the noise will save me' is full of great pop tunes.

@@VinylMonkey58 Thank you! I really liked the song so I'll check Bandcamp to see if there's a CD (yeah, I'm a music guy who buys CDs... which seems completely uncool these days!)

So, your partner, “thinks she can spot a wrong un when she sees one”. ??? This is clearly a recently acquired skill, or one she either didn’t possess, or refused to deploy, some 20+ years ago.
