My burgman 650 wouldn't go past 1st sometimes 2nd I tried cleaning the center stand switch then replaced the sensor still was stuck in first gear I then saw this post and another post so I ordered the pulley bolt but I couldn't wait so I went up under the bike and saw the pulley bolt was not tightened I tightened it and bam I was just doing 85mph thank God for this video 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks so much for this video Ledude. I just whipped my bolt out and it was munted . Not broken but pretty well chewed. I bought the scoot cheap as a non moving bike. It sounded mint presented well and was cheap so I took the risk. Through various online films I've worked out what isn't wrong with the scoot and only just came across this film. I'm hoping a new bolt will restore drive , if it doesn't then I'll test the wheel speed sensor next. Maybe the gbox is stuffed allready but a cheap bolt won't hurt to try for life. Thanks again you rock mate
Just bought a 2006 with 5000 miles... 2 tiny nicks in mine.. Replaced original soft bolt with new Suzuki grade 9 at $7 from the Suzuki dealer.. part # 21748-10G10.. Thanks for posting!!
haaaaaaaaaaaa, finally I see this bolt and the type of damage to look for. Thanks for the hint guys ! Answer to why it needs to be changed : This bolt wears out, and needs to be changed before it breaks. If it breaks, the whole transmission can be destroyed immediately after. That's why. Why does it break ? Wrong design. Solution ? Replace existing bolt with new Suzuki grade 9 at $7 from the Suzuki dealer : part # 21748-10G10
What is the major re-build required on the Burgman 650 at 35k to 50k miles? My bike is at 36k miles and I'm worried that the repair shops aren't interested in repairing the bike, more interested in me buying something new.
Thanks for your quick reply to my question. I did watch this/your DYI vid on changing this bolt, However I must have missed the reason why it needs to be chnged.
For everyone asking what If that pulley wasn't in place or lossen , then you would get a grinding noise , fail to move fast as when your engine RPM is over 6 , your actual speed is barely 30 km/h , and finally you would get a very loud noise just like a super jet fan.
sorry to be off topic but does anyone know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid lost my password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Leandro Marley I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Please I really need you help I have the same bike but the problem I have is that the shaft stop bolt breaks and when we replace it, it will break again within same few days. Please what could be the cause of the problem? Please help me solve this problem.
Tbolt is probably miss aligned with the primary pulley slot make sure you have the right bolt for your model year check this diy for data and pics docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1n4d0f0AhGsfNlAilwXJD3tlZxnLhxtoth8ei4jLDj7c
Im about to buy a 650 2011 and fiind this on problems searching. So the "legendary" cvt failure of this model is becouse of this small bolt? Is there anything I should look for?
no reason why you should not buy the scoot the primary pulley bolt is not at the heart of the cvt problems, but can cause issues if it wqears out 2005+ Models have a better primary pulley adapter design
@@LeDude00 please what is the cause of the breakage of the bolt my scooter is giving me that problem. The bolt break and we don't get to bye. Please help repair my scooter. What should I do?
In my case cured 2 issues: 1) A rattling noise that got worse over time, felt like coming from a loose exhaust, sounding similar to the "diesel" noise; 2) After full oil change, it would not shift up as expected, but rev up to 6-7000 and then slowly come down in revs. Found mine with the smooth part of the bolt almost gone.
the 2010+ 650 got an upgraded bolt, you should check online or with your dealer to make sure you get the correct bolt, the new one is longer than the old one. check my CVT Repairs DIY on my burgman center if you want to see the difference.
No, i 400 hanno come trasmissione frizione centrifuga, variatore con rulli collegati con cinghia. Il 650 ha la trasmissione a cascata di ingranaggi... Nessun variatore con rulli e frizione centrifuga
what actually is grinding the edges of the bolt? Wouldn't it be better to just chop the part of the bolt after the threads so the part that's grinding the bolt doesn't fall get more damage? It's obviously grinding against something.
@@LeDude00 I tried cleaning the center stand switch then replaced the sensor still was stuck in first gear I then saw this post and another post so I ordered the pulley bolt but because of your comment I couldn't wait so I went up under the bike and saw the pulley bolt was not tightened I tightened it and bam I was just doing 85mph thank God for this video 🔥🔥🔥
@THEJEDEYEMASTER Thanks again for the reply. I thought the tip (above the thread) of the bolt sits inside something. I thought it was holding it in place. If it doesn't do anything, then why doesn't Suzuki make the bolt short enough so the end doesn't go all the way up to the area being grinded down? Can I really just cut the end of the bolt and not have to worry about it? thanks again.
@@LeDude00 please my breaks and I want to know the cause of the break it giving problem my mechanic has tried but still. And we don't get to bye too. Please am begging please help with the cause so the get my bike beck.
Only one hand on the torque wrench please, and the addition of any extension changes the delivery so try to do it without any extensions or adapters...
AFAIR The bolt in question holds in place the CVT steering. See /watch?v=292p96ZBloc One can clearly see the damage - if you allow the bolt to get lots of clearance, it will amplify the damage.
