Burleigh Heads 6 to 8 ft 

A couple waves in this go a bit beyond 8 ft don't you think?

This is the day I always tell people about. I was at Main Beach in the afternoon ... I swear the size increased from midday, and the wind died down ... it was pure glass with massive sets rolling in. Thanks for the vid, and proof of the memories!

i miss good old burliegh barrels, burliegh was my first barrrel right out in the cove section i was stoked..........i still remember it as if was yesterday. it was great when the old goldy pub was across the road $5 meals with a beer and the old pit"play room, up at palmy surf all day and talk about surfing all night ,,,,,

When they say 6-8 he either is talking about the backs of the wave or the swell must have been like 6-8 ft at 20 seconds in deepwater (30+ ft), when wave periods are further apart, their energy stretches further down than normal, and wave periods of about 20 seconds become twice the size on shallow water than what they were in deep water. I agree, you should call a waves size by how big it is in shallow water, but this may just have been the forecast.

Burleigh had one of the most classic Burleigh Barrels yesterday. ot huge but just perfect. The waves go for a kilometre then reform at North Burleigh. Amazing to watch from the Beachfront Bar. People overseas would pay a million dollars to sit and have a beer in such a gorgeous spot and have a drink.

@liltaz123456 I'm a local burleigh surfer as well, and I shot this all at the point at burleigh. First shot is a big wide from top of burleigh hill. Zoomed in and shot the view of surfers at the same location. Which is the shot at 1:27.

killer video mate, amazing day captured really well! brings back so many memories of the 5 years i spent in oz and the year on the goldie. awesome waves, weather and lifestyle. top country and fantastic people, i'd say to anyone if you get the chance to visit go for it. landlocked in the uk and missing the waves, my oz mates and the tooheys pils.

Apparently, Australians use Hawaiian scale to define wave height, which measures the back side of the wave instead of the face and is usually roughly half the face size. That measurement will more closely match buoy readings.

@thomasvermeersch UQ in Brisbane a great uni. griffith and bond are fine to but they dont do the real fraterenity house thing at those. while in brisbane, the university of queensland has like kings and leos if you're into that sort of thing. brisbane isnt far from the gold coast btw.
