if you watch carefully they just go around the same small circle in the video over and over again lol. they probably shown like less than 1% of whats down there. Its like showing a mansion spare room thats empty and has mold where the rest out the house is fully furnished and used daily, and they say see , its empty and not used anymore lol.
They only let Blue Peter in as since they visited the whole place has been renovated and restocked and is now a classified area again. Also rumours it has been expanded to take in all the new GCHQ buildings in the area.
yes ,they didnt want the general population in these bunkers, i wasnt alive then, but from my limited knowledge with the protect and survive plan, etc, the ministry of information and the government were attempting to lul the general population into a false sense of security, if youve not seen it, watch the tv film 'threads', its on you tube, there were several undergound bunkers all over the uk, ive been to one, out in the sticks in kent, but this one here is a very large underground town.
They primarily built those needed for military and command first. Otherwise, I don't think they had resources, and if they were no kept secret I suppose the Russians can adapt the power of the weapon, who knows?! I think its a complex operation and not many geological sites these can be made. There is a tiny one in every parish though, for the ROC to relay information. We're talking the size of a room with a couple bunks, and the survivors were on a very limited life expectancy in them, just enough to report planes.
The site is part of RAF Rudloe Manor South site which is where numerous entrance points are. The entrance in this film is the former 6SU site on trout lane that is now part of Basil Hill site which sits between Park Lane and Westwells Road but none of these were the main entrance ;-)
This part is just the front. It is not access to the actual base. No one has ever been there. Dark Arts, Exploring With Fighters and Secret Vault did go here and the neighbouring surface areas and explained.
@@greatestjourney6412 The site she entered from was known as 6SU and gives access to WCK South site. There were numerous entrances, outside Royal Arthur , CDCN, Copenacre, Spring Lane, Peel Circus, Spring Quarry plus many more and an unknown entrance through Hartham Park quarry on the Bradford Road that was in private hands and was accessed through two sets of alarmed doors and a guard post (its now bricked up). All of these give full access to Burlington. There is no secret entrance through Box railway tunnel and the set of doors at the entrance on the Corsham side of the tunnel at Spring lane were for something completely different.
