Yes, breathtaking it is indeed - you won't be disappointed, I promise you. EVERYWHERE you go in VT is beautiful! I was born in Burlington many years ago and lived only about 20 interstate minutes southeast of Vermont's largest "city", in the heart of eastern Chittenden county's magnificent forested and mountainous countryside before sadly having to move away with my parents when I was only 14, but it's impact on me is still felt even now, 45 years later. Can hardly wait to spend a week deep in the NEK (the "Northeast Kingdom" - on the other side of the state from Burlington, in quiet and dreamy Essex county) in just two more weeks, for my first full visit there. Hope that you too will get to see Vermont sometime soon! ATB

Wow, I didn't know they destroyed that fountain. I lived there for two years about eighteen years ago and _thought_ the park looked different in videos than what I remembered. The greatest thing that can be done with downtown areas like Burlington's is to maintain, not change them. People go there for it's charm. We have enough highly mechanized, over-engineered downtown areas in the country without Burlington joining their ranks.

The homeless were using the fountain as a bathtub/toilet. The redesigned park, although ugly, at least has public restrooms. There has been two shootouts in that park so gar this year.

@@my1vice it was not "The Homeless" it was a dumbass who should have been arrested. I was homeless on burlington and not one of us used the fountain like that. One time I saw an old man sit in the fountain. Other then that, the only time someone messed with it was when they added bubbles in the spring like they did every year. It was historic and they could have moved it to the Sherburne museum.

@@GoodLuckBrianTravel if you go back, you've got to try long trail and switchback. Last time I was there, Switchback was only on tap at bars. They sell it in stores now.
