I am 63 ..i watch this video every day .. it makes me happy .. she is remind me of the glory days of the real rock .. wish and hope if she would play " won't get fooled again " for the Who ... she is amazing .

People (esp celebs) also tend to alter their words to make themselves look good(or keep from looking bad). And Ian's use of hyperbole gives it away. The word "frightening" is not a word used to describe drumming. And the OP saying: "She IS music" is the lame thing. Wayyy overboard pathetically obvious cucking.

These videos are recorded in a single take and are not edited. You can watch her single Sparkling to get an idea of her chops. And her 12th birthday sessions where she is playing with well known Japanese musicians that SHE invited to play with HER. I think you underestimate this girl.
Ian Paice himself reacted to her and he said she hits harder then he does. Mind you this is an 11 year old kid, the stamina and strength that she has to play this song for more than 6 min straight is mind blowing.
The craziest thing is she learns the songs she plays for youtube generally in 1-3 hours (not months/years) and plays them in one take. And she doesn't even read music yet but learns by ear.
She just got voted into the Top 500 best drummers in history. She is endorsed by Pearl Drums, has played with Cyndi Lauper and other big names but mostly plays in her families band, who are also very good. Her aunt Madoooon is an excellent bass player.

Burn is a drum solo with vocals, keys and guitars. Ian Paice said she got it 99% right which is head and shoulders above men thrice her age trying to play it in cover bands all over the world.
Yes, he mentioned a point where she initially got it wrong, then got it right. (It all sounded great to me!) But he also said he had a hard time with certain points that she nailed. Keep in mind that she's 11. Damn..
Yoyoka is the 11 year old percussive heir apparent to one of history’s greatest rock and roll bands that has yet to form. I only hope I live long enough to witness it.
One amazing thing about Yoyoka is that she is largely self taught. She gets some lessons but she mainly learns on her own. She said on one of her videos that it takes her two or three attempts to get the drumming for a song down. Yoyoka is fairly well known in Japan. As others have said the whole family (mother, father, little brother and Yoyoka) are a band. They've toured the country a few times, she's been featured on commercials (a bigger deal in Japan than here), and is a cultural/goodwill ambassador for Hokkaido, the northern island where she lives.

Her parents had her on stage playing the drums in their band when she was barely a toddler! So she's been playing for almost a decade already. I just love her enthusiasm after playing for so long. And she has the personality & intelligence to become a legend, if she wants.
She is more than a great drummer. She is the ambassador to happiness! I don’t care who you are or where you’re from, you can’t watch her and not smile 😊 that’s much more than just being a great musician.
She makes it looks absolutely effortless.. hopefully she will always enjoy it this much throughout her life.. I've been subbed to her for a couple years now and I'm in my 50's..

This young lady just has so much fun doing these covers, you can see it in her face. I recently watched Ian Paice, the drummer for Deep Purple, react to this drum cover. He was amazed and her speed and joy doing it. As he was watching at one point he said "this is where I usually mess up", she didn't.

I was watching an interview in Japanese, she started playing at 18 months old, and has been playing as long as she can remember. She learned to drum while she was learning to speak and her playing is integrated as essential a second language. Learning a new song or technique is like you learning a new word.

This kid plays as good as anyone I've ever seen! But I've only seen about a thousand concerts. One of the two best drummers I've ever seen live is Ian Paice. Yoyoka is already as good, at eleven, as he ever was.
@@obbor4 Why? Cause I think differently? I've been drumming since 1980. I have a few drum videos. I think this 11 y/o makes a mockery of drumming; making it look really easy, and lowering the image of famed drummers.

The fact that she's young and female probably causes some to recoil in jealousy. But, that's not her problem. Some people just have it. This one, obviously, does.

I agree with you Jamel, her timing is impeccable and her energy is contagious. At her age I would put her in the savant category. I hope this sweet girl gets rich with these skills. I could go on and on . . .
She's been on Ellen look up that video and Robert plant got to see her play a led zeppelin song I mean she is fanomanal look these videos up I've been watching her now for a little while and I never get tired of watching her
9:27 She discovered Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and all these others by herself from iTunes/Apple Music when she was like 4-6 years old or whenever she started covering these. Her parents were unaware of the bands

Love the enthusiasm. Since were on Deep Purple it's time to checkout the spinoff band Rainbow's 80's hit "Stone Cold", one of the coolest intros of any song imo.
One of the things I like so much about Yoyoka; as a 22 year resident of Japan; is that she quite obviously LOVES what she's doing. Murdering music is required for just about all kids here, (the sheer torture of recorders in class still has me waking up screaming!), but Yoyo-chan not only chooses great music; not only does it incomparably well; but also enjoys doing it; unlike (sadly) so many of her fellow Japanese kids. Kudos to her family for supporting her too.
She does doubles and triples effortlessly. Her precision and power only gets better as she gets older. She just turned 11 recently. By time she is 18...... limitless

One of the many things to love about her is that you will NEVER see a happier drummer in your life. She's a natural, she loves to learn, and she LOVES to play. It's just damn FUN to watch. She does Led Zeppelin's "Heartbreaker," and (not to spoil it, but) during the guitar break in the middle, she pretends to read while waiting for the drums to start back up. The thing about Ian Paice is, in a band with multiple singers (one of them, Ian Gillian, being one of the most legendary screamers in the world), not to mention Living Legend Richie Blackmore and Lost Legend Jon Lord, he almost gets lost. Everything else is so great, many people really do miss how amazing he was/is. And for Yoyoka to cite HIM as a major influence, that says A LOT about her.

She sure is part of a band! She's been professional since she was 5 or 6, in her parents band Kaneai Yoyoka (formerly Kaneai Kaneai). You should probably check out the Kaneai Yoyoka channel! BTW notice the pile of drumstick splinters around her kick pedal. It's grown too since you last watched Yoyoka - where you been?!
