Haters gonna hate. It is mostly jealousy. They just don't realize how long David has been producing / djing for so they call everything "fake".
@milkboccle
@milkboccle 7 лет назад
because you chose to ignore the truth and interpret it as hate? im far from his biggest fan but any trained engineer can spot his waffle a mile off, its like he is talking to 10 year olds, not to the music geek/aspiring engineer/producer. would it be hate if during an "advanced" painting master class where the "expert" was telling the class how to draw a stickman instead of the expected realistic portrait and people observing dared to critique the "expert"
@dzamusic
@dzamusic 7 лет назад
sorry man but i did not interpret it as hate. In none of my sentences. I'm also not a Guetta fanboy but I give anybody a chance to inspire myself. Whether I like his music or not. And the truth is, it doesn't matter if you are a geek in music production or an outstanding mixing engineer to become successful. Guetta might have his own engineers for mixing and mastering. The truth is, as an example, if you are a dance music producer, you need to transfer emotion. And he does it very well. He might be rethorically weak, maybe he had a gig the night before with drug consume, maybe that's why he's not talking in technical terms and describes his techniques in metaphors. But he is able to transfer emotion with his music that millions of people around the world are receiving and feeling certain emotion when listening to his music.

If David Guetta is one of the best producers in the world, that doesn't mean that he is a trained sound engineer, David Guetta has presented this graet class in very good way, so shut up all the haters
@TierHarribel
@TierHarribel 7 лет назад
He is a DJ Producer, basically not a professional sound engineer. A sound engineer would in most cases use those big ass mix boards you see, and they have a deeper understanding of everything in a DAW. A producer like Martin, David or Tiesto have basically learned the basics / advance levels of the DAW but they don't need more. I think that if you study music, you're limited by the rules, while if you're like myself or most bedroom producers you just create things that sound good, and those usually attract the mainstream audience

darak abdushakir It's not hate. There are opinions and facts. Some opinions say he is one of the best producers... The fact, is one of the most commercial, but it doesn't mean is good. Learn to difference it. Then, some opinions say he has ghost producers... The fact is that most of the professionals producer have their groups behind them, or people who help to create their tracks... In my opinion, it is not a good thing, but is not that bad, because professionals have a life, have shows, have to travel around the world and it's obviously that they can't stay hours in the studio or the whole day producing with a notebook.

Guys - he's saying so much and getting so technical - I swear your best option is to get behind your PC and work away until you've come up with your own ideas. Guetta can show you a few basics but in the end it's all up to you - practise makes perfect!
@spoofies9460
@spoofies9460 10 лет назад
He's not too technical, some guys can talk for hours but you'll get nothing useful in return. Here he describes a couple of VERY useful tricks. 1. put the low end in mono, 2. feed the sidechain with something that has a very short decay, instead of using the kickdrum, 3. adjust the length of the bass drum to the bass line you're using. 4. tune the low end of the kick. Most amateurs will never ever care or know about that. Stuff like this is way more useful in the long run than getting tons of new plugins, VSTi's etc...
@MrMaxadax
@MrMaxadax 10 лет назад
this is barely technical talk, all he's talking about is why he thinks louder is better and how to make your tracks sound like shit with over compression and side chaining which is pretty much blasphemy.
@MrJinusean90
@MrJinusean90 10 лет назад
Spoofies can you help me, i dont understand it exactly. i know to use a short trigger for sidechain but what he means with later? the trigger later as the kick??? but when the trigger comes later, the kick before clash with the bass in this moment
@qwertcvbnmm

Sidechaining, in beginner terms, refers to 'making other audio track listen to other one'. Most known use for this is to make other track drop its volume or just specific frequencies down when there is signal coming in on the other track(for example; making the lower frequency tracks drop their volume when kickdrum hits or making vocals stand out from middle etc.) Here they're talking about simply automating volume drops when the kickdrum hits. Gives dat pumpin' sick dropz yo effect.:)

What I learned from this video.... Side-chain "EVERYTHING", make things really LOUD, and to put everything under 175 HZ mono.... What I like to do... make things really quiet.... and make sure my bass is compressed/limited to a comfortable level so that that when I apply my mastering techniques, I can make things REALLY LOUD PROPER. I also like to stereoize my bass.... I send it to two different channels, and pan each plus make them stereo, about 20-25% (However my sub bass is usually a little less stereo/panned than my main bassline, to make it seem wider) I side chain my bass and sub... It's necessary... I like to side chain lots of my synths that get in the way of my kick... however if it isn't getting in the way of the kick then don't side chain. OR another method is to find where your kick is most prominent EQ wise (lets say 100 HZ), and just turn down around 100 HZ on your synths... boom done, no more need to side chain :P nice clear synths. Last tip.. I keep my kick Mono only, you can have anything you want mono, just make sure to make room for it. And remember kids, there are no rules. everything I just said is a lie. Do what you want, make cool things sound cooler, and always practice playing an instrument. Those three pieces of advice I'm sure everybody can agree with me on.

@MrMaxadax
@MrMaxadax 10 лет назад
I seriously hope nobody actually takes his 'tips'. 'What sounds louder sounds better'. Nope. This is why modern music sounds bad, because of the loudness war. It sounds like shit. Over compression is nasty and without quiet there can be no loud. This is why his tracks sound like shit and in proper venues his stuff will never be played. It stays on the radio where it was made to be. This is the kind of stuff that is making music sound like shit.

I the department of "acoustic" music, electric guitar, drums, bass, vocals, etc. You should avoid soft clipping, limiting and overly compressing. In some cases of electronic music, it can work for you, but it's a very fine line between hitting the perfect spot and going over the line and ruining the track.

I found this class extremely useful. Guetta talks about some basic stuff, and sometimes those basic stuff are the ones you usually lack. Sidechaining gave me some new ideas, but the best part was the talk about emotional vs. power parts of the track. Jumping parts don't need emotional elements necesserely, if you wanna only shake the crowd. Never thought about it like that. Guetta knows his stuff. Thank you. Also - don't hate. He shared his knowledge, and really is a nice guy. Cheers.

In the past he worked with those producers, and now he works a lot with a guy named Giorgio Tuinfort. When he started out, like many of us, he did not know a lot about making music. Over time, he put in the work and got better at his craft. I am sure he still has guys helping him in the studio, but no doubt, he is much more knowledgeable of music now than before. From this video, it's apparent that he knows his way around a DAW and knows the use of plugins. He understands what hits in clubs!

For being so internationally known, I respect him for passing on his knowledge. Tracks like "Memories feat Kid Cudi" will forever be remembered.

You can say anything you want about his music, but he knows what he's doing.
