every couple of months i go back to listen to all of his performances. i watched this season here in australia and i fell in love.... unique and stunning voice.. and amazing control , very talented and natural performer
Am I the only person who listens to the original John Legend version and get bored because all you can think of is Damnit why isn't Burnell singing this song!😒😂....he gives so much more emotion to this song, in my opinion.
I stopped watching Idol years ago. Happen to catch the Top 11 show and was very disappointed w/ the exception of 2 average performances that night. I watched the Top 10 show just to see if last week was an off week. Mayala Watson performing a Bruno Mars hit took top honor for night in my opinion, which led me to Candice Glover (2013) rendition of the same song here on RU-vid where I notice a caption "Burnell Taylor Performs Sudden Death Round American Ido..." and decided to view it. The emotion and maturity required to sing/perform the ballad the young man Burnell chose don't come easy. What I heard and saw was a natural performer who was in his element that I forgot that he was 19 years old. Loved and felt every minute of his performance. Peace.
I never understood him being eliminated when he was. I thought for sure he was better then most of the people that stayed if not the best. He's only 19! I can't imagine what he'll sound like another ten years.
What continues to be amazing and clutch is that he pulled this off on the show, who knows how many takes they get on the TV, but it can't be many if any. Stellar tone and cadence, in 9 years and umteen views still better than JL. However the studio version falls short in a little heart and soul, where the show is at 100%
