The stretch of Burnham and Pennsy Greenways between Calumet City, IL and Munster, IN may lack in natural splendor but its liminal charms can put one’s heart in motion.
10/10 Way to begin the video! Hilarious! I have a theory that a lot of the new bike/walking trails sit on former RR tracks - like the trail that runs through Mville. Probably why they all run through industrial areas and such? Either way I'm happy to see more trails being made and glad your exploring and filming them! Thank you!
@2:00 Look how nice n clean those woods are! I've spent the last three months of my free days cleaning up all the plastic pollution and glass that has been littered along the levee for the last three decades. I started there by that warehouse and am working my way west towards Torrence Ave. That warehouse is no longer vacated thankfully so I began to clean up the mess there first and am working towards the abandoned movie theater/ olive garden. It would be nice to get some video documentation of the pollution on record... it's EPIC. I did take pics of the mess I already cleaned up but there's waaaay more crap that's been sitting there along the river from the shopping mall for DECADES (both sides of the levee north and south). There are native Bur Oaks all along the levee, it's literally an ecosystem. (The REAL River Oaks). Shopping malls + wind = pollution... it is what it is, sadly. These businesses need to take some responsibility for the environmental mess they create. Where is the village of Lansing on this issue??? Where is Calumet City on this issue??? >CRICKETS
Awesome work! That’s amazing actually. A couple years before I started making videos some friends and I cleaned all the litter out of the Marquette Park savanna after a controlled burn. We filled probably 13 contractor bags and found stuff from the late 50s. But we didn’t have a shopping facility to contend with. There’s hotspots in Gary and Merrillville that are occasionally addressed. I’d be interested in making a video of the spot you mention and will be up that way the next 4 Thursdays. Would need some insight tho - would you mind emailing me? samuelalove219 at gmail. Thanks you, as always!
@@SamuelLoveI don't have an email at this time but you can go to the movie theater and walk along the perimeter of the parking lot and see the mess. I've only cleaned up what was in the woods towards the river so far... I'm hoping to have Lansing clean up the rest, lol.
