I've been MIKEmaxxing for two years, this is my story. To preface, I'm a 44 year old Filipino Uber driver with a loving wife and son. When at work, I love to discover new music by giving my customers the aux and letting them play whatever they want. One night in summer 2021, my life changed forever. A black male teen entered my car for a short trip. Smoothly I said to him: "What's the word with aux, bro? You tryna jam out?" He didn't say anything, but reluctantly he took it and played Airdrop for us. As soon as the kaleidoscopic opening keys played, I started silently crying and my body started twitching from the colorful complexity of it all, even more so once MIKE's deep voice came in and effortlessly flowed on the beat. My armpits down to my hips were soaked with sweat and my head was spinning with euphoria by the time the song was over. The kid got out of the car not long after, with no idea what he had just done to me. Since that night I removed the aux cord from my car, and now my passengers and I listen to MIKE's discography front to back, snippets, livestreams, etc. This is how my MIKEmaxxing journey began. I'm balding and do not have Afro-textured hair, but I've managed to loc up most of it with tons of wax and Jamaican black castor oil. My wife thinks it's horrifying and culturally inappropriate, to which I replied nuthin I can do is wrng. I also tan very well, and my shoe lifts and boots take me all the way from 5'3 to 5'8. At this point, it's very hard to distinguish me from big MIKE if you saw me on the street. I'm not a smoker, but MIKE has influenced me to buy marijuana from an older teen at my son's high school and smoke grabba blunts twice daily. I also study his raps constantly and have even started creating a network like the real MIKE has. My "Alchemist" is my son. He's already pale enough to pass as white, so all I had to do was buzz his hair and get him beanies and snapbacks. I've had to draw his beard on with a pen for now, but I assume once he turns 16 he'll be able to grow one on his own. He's hardly said a word to me since the MIKEmaxxing began. At first I thought it was negatively impacting our father-son bond, but then it hit me that he was obviously just mirroring Alan's chill and lowkey vibe. I'm proud of his devotion, but he still hasn't made me any beats I'm impressed by yet. I'm starting to think high school is getting in the way of his career and we may have to take him out of the system. My "Earl" is my wife. Her job really isn't that hard, she just has to memorize her verses for Sentry, allstar, and smoke grabba blunts with me. She didn't even have to go through the loc journey like I did as I spent a lot of money on her faux locs, facial hair and Carharrt hoodies. For how easy she gets it, I don't know why she cries herself to sleep every night and threatens to leave me for her ex-husband. I repeatedly have to talk her out of it because the real Thebe would never say that to MIKE. I doubt he even has an ex-husband. I've put blood, sweat and tears into this transformation for two years now. My family and I have finally raised enough funds to follow MIKE on his tour next year, we'll be performing at local bars and public parks so we don't steal the spotlight from Big Baby Jesus.
