What people have to realize is that Elvis performed over 1800 concerts when he back to touring. That was sheer insanity! Current artists have commented on this and have said it was insanity. When he finished Aloha From Hawaii, he needed to take at least one year off, get rest, get new material and do a worldwide tour. Unfortunately that never happened!!
Agree with you. But it also would have been a great time to make a world tour. Take a month or two off, then hit Europe. Couple of months off, tour Asia. Then regroup instead of 2-3 shows a night in Vegas for a month. Leave illegal alien Parker behind.
It's interesting to go back to "That's the Way It Is" and "Elvis On Tour" and see how much footage they lifted from those documentaries. Small stuff like audience shots and the guy saying "Elvis has left the building," but also shots of Elvis from behind or from far away that blend seamlessly into the Austin Butler footage. The "Aloha From Hawaii" bit here is entirely sourced from the 1973 concert but it's so quick and cleverly done you don't even notice it isn't recreated. Amazing performance from Butler that this is even remotely possible, and amazing editing too.
Thanks for pointing that out. There’s so much going on in those scenes that I didn’t catch that at first. Now rewatching it I see what you mean and it’s really nice to see that Elvis had little cameos in there. Definitely makes the movie that much more sweet for me. 😢 Baz did an awesome job and had me bawling like a baby at the end. Elvis deserved so much more than what that evil plotting man did to him(won’t say his name). It’s unfortunate that he couldn’t get out from under him, maybe he’d still be alive if he did. Nonetheless he will always live on. RIP Elvis❤️
And yes that was elvis fault...he was the boss...but elvis let tom parker do wat ever he wanted...tom parker work for elvis...not...elvis working for tom parker...
I'll never forget experiencing this film last year on the big screen. Theater packed. When this scene came in, the entire audience started roaring lyrics and clapping on tempo with the music. Truly magical film moment.
@ELVIS 2022 Tom Parker wouldn't let Elvis go international, be in better rolls of better movies, took fifty percent out of everything Elvis made, and worked him to the bone. Dr. Nick prescribed Elvis with many prescription medication which lead to an addiction and he wouldn't let Elvis have real rest when he was looking awful and when Parker said; "The only thing that matters is for this man gets on stage tonight!" Dr. Nick was basically like how Dr. Murray did to Michael Jackson.
@@javelygonzalez8606 I know about that. But when Lisa Marie found out what Michael did at Neverland Ranch, she left him immediately. She never wanted to see him again.
Not sure if you have heard but Baz said that there is no 4 hour cut. I believe He said that they started with 4 hours of just raw unedited footage. He did however say there will most likely be an extended cut in the future tho just not 4 hours.
@@aidanlucid9619he won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama Film, and won the BAFTA for Best Actor. He was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the SAG Awards and Oscars, but lost both to Brendan Fraser.
@@aidanlucid9619 yes I was super bummed at the Oscars when that happened. But, it will forever say Academy Award Nominee Austin Butler…can’t take that away.
What an amazing clip. Your eyes are literally darting back and forth trying to take in this visual work of art. And it is amazing that they put clips of Elvis here and there throughout the movie. The more you watch the more you notice them. And for the first time ever Tom Hanks made me hate a character he is playing. So sad that Elvis fell for a conman's game.
I loved these scenes. Austin loolked fantastic in beautiful stage costume, burning love red jumpsuits, powdered blue one and dark spanish flowers suits. I wish I get to see more of them. When DVD arrived I watched it with zoom and slow button on.
It is hard to imagine the toll it took on him physically & mentally. Performance, stamina his personal life, Parker really did run him like a circus performer & he & Vernon were trapped 😢
Imagine if elvis did an international tour. The more money and movies he would've gotten to do. But still his home was the U.S he was only one guy we gotta see that everyone wanted everything with elvis movies shows songs appearances. Moving around the world would've still put him at risk of danger with or with out the security. I mean he was the world's famous man. He wasn't comfortable at home with 24/7 security imagine across the world in a different country
I was sitting at a red light in Oakland California a couple of years ago in west Oakland and a Cadillac pulled up next to me and Elvis was driving it. He jumped on the 880 on ramp and disappeared right in front of my eyes. No shit!
Hope Austin wins the Oscar. He earn it. Even though Lisa is no longer with us. I hope he wins it for the family. She loved Austin and if he does win it will be a very emotional night for all of them. I still can not believe it. This poor family. I wish they can all find some peace in the future.
There's one very good way to tell if your business partner is worth your time. How he looks, how he is on a day to day basis and how the deal is like. Elvis went in as a young man without the acumen and the discernment to figure out who is good for him and who isn't.
1-21-23 my friend Jimmie died in August 2017 ,weeks before the 40th anniversary of Elvis’s passing, I had laid this movie on his grave on Tuesday October 4rth 2022.
I agree that Elvis at first was just loved doing the Last Vegas shows but it eventually wore thin. Colonel Parker was a megalomaniac who was concerned only for himself !! The fact that Elvis died one day before his new touring event shows that he NEVER should have scheduled it. The most common perception is that Elvis only started taking drugs around 1969 or 1970.The truth was that his mother started taking diet pills to lose weight so she looked good for Elvis fan's. The next thing you know Elvis asked his mom about the pills and she gave them to him. I'm not sure that when Elvis joined the Army he continued with the diet pills or switched to Dexedrine or Ritalin. The job of staying awake all night for Base patrol is a very serious position and the solider must stay awake and alert always. Eventually Elvis needed to come down so he started taking Barbiturates to sleep and eventually became hopelessly addicted.
Colonel Parker not only worked Elvis to the brink to save himself from crippling debt, but he also pumped Elvis full of drugs. He is the reason Elvis struggled with addiction later in life. So screwed up!
I think of how Tenoch Huerta, the actor who portrays Namor in Wakanda Forever, and is a big star in Mexican cinema turned 42 today, is youthful and vibrant. This montage shows an exploitation of Elvis and apparent confinement to a specific genre. I wonder what Elvis would have have done creatively if circumstances had been different. The entertainment business had a ferocious appetite for a lot of gifted artists.
@@andymac2935 Truth is that The Beatles all ready became Bigger than Elvis. I don't think Elvis can dethrone the Fab Four even if he tried. According to what I saw in many videos online, when The Beatles came to America back in February 1964, so many people were at JFK international airport to greet them. Their songs were on the top of the charts, many young guys and girls were going crazy for The Beatles, and outside of the Plaza Hotel people were holding up signs saying; _Elvis is Dead. Long live The Beatles!_ and _We love you! Please never leave us!_ . And on the day that they performed on the Ed Sullivan Show, over millions of people tuned in and watched them perform. Jerry Schilling even wrote down in one of his books that the people who were fans of The Beatles were even more crazier than the Elvis fans. John Lennon even said to one journalist that the American fans are the most wildest than the fans in England. The Beatles also went all over the world going to Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, the Philippines, Japan, etc. They also won many awards and met many famous people. Brian Epstein, the manager of The Beatles, also said that the Fab Four were going to become bigger than Elvis, which came true. Elvis Presley still remains as the King of Rock 'n' Roll but The Beatles still remain as the Fab Princes of British Rock.
If Elvis would have agreed to have second billing behind Barbra Streisand for the 1876 movie ‘A star is born’, instead of the movie performing well at the best office, it would have been a gigantic hit. It would have resurrected Elvis’ career and its very possible he may have taken less prescription drugs afterwards I think he would not have died in August 1977 if he only would have done ‘A star is born’ since he would not have been so depressed
@ELVIS 2022 Tom Parker worked Elvis to the bone, he didn't let Elvis go around the world, he lied to Elvis, Dr. Nick prescribed too much medicine to him, and Dr. Nick didn't say that Elvis needed actual rest.
..........Only 1 thing missing from this bio......... Elvis deep Country Music roots, Bluegrass, and Pop Ballads as a source for his inspiration & major influence on him. The film made him out to be just a product of the blues and someone who had no other inspiration in his early days. Looking over Elvis Discography (lifetime of music) he recorded Country, Bluegrass, Traditional Hymns, (not just R&B gospel), and Pop Ballad Crooner songers all from the very beginning starting in 1953! We now need to restore what we fans knew many decades ago, that Elvis was not an R&B artist, he covered every genre of his day, and experimented with mixing all of these styles and creating his own unique blend of rock & roll. (listen to his Houston Interview about his music). As exciting as this movie was, we are now going to have insert footnotes in our discussions on this film, because Baz had such a narrow vision of Elvis' musical influence. Elvis has been re-defined now, especially to unknowing newcomers who don't know the Elvis story, nor the all inclusive story of the evolution of American popular music.
