Here's a great scene from season 6, episode 6 of The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show (Oct 3, 1955). In this episode, George is trying to find backers for a musical version of his book, ""I Love Her, That's Why"". Everything looks all set till the investors find out George wants to play the lead role.
Here, George and Gracie sing a song based on the book's title, in a delightful duet with some charming dancing thrown in. This is a historically significant scene, as it's the last musical number George and Gracie ever performed on film together.

I hope they can see I am playing this over & over, as well as Gracie's song ' Honolulu'. I hope they can see how comforting this is.

I didn’t know this was Gracie’s last song or dance performance. It is one of my favorite scenes from one of my favorite episodes.

I never saw this before-- what a treat! I absolutely love Burns and Allen, what a great team. I find it fun to see a clip like this and then go back and compare with some of their short subjects from the early 30's. Gracie was such a pro, and beloved by everyone. I highly recommend the book Gracie and Me by George for anyone interested in learning more about them.

The greatest. I've been in love with Gracie since I was 8 years old (the year they sang this).

When talent WAS talent! Actors didn't need to create or stage attacks to profit. Actors of the past really worked hard to get where they were and didn't have to resort to foul language, seedy scenes or tell us about their filthy lives.

Obviously you’re too young to have seen or know much about vaudeville or burlesque. What you’re seeing is a government regulated commercial broadcast of the day, not the morays of entertainment in other venues.

Think about it before you walk in that door first. Look at the store clerk. She's older than George Burns.

While I don't know for sure, you might start with songs by Mack Gordon. In the description on TV, it says he wrote this song especially for them.
