Happy 4th of July. We used to pledge allegiance every morning in school. Also, we would get paddled if we missed behaved. Certain teachers would check our nails. Corporal punishment was a thing before the 80”’s. Prayer in schools was a thing prior to the 70’s. When you hear people talking about making America great (again), that’s generally what they mean. Back to the days when we had prayer in schools & more discipline. But unfortunately, we also had racism & segregation back then. The constitution & our court system kinda ended all of these things mentioned due to democracy (freedom). Are we more free by requiring everyone to pray? Or are we more free by not allowing organized school sanctioned prayer? There are arguments for both ways but democracy is designed to lean towards more freedoms instead of less. So, I think the US is just in a more “advanced” stage than when you were in the Philippians, which is a relatively new democracy. Some might argue that democracy is bad because it tends to allow things like lack of prayer, gay marriage, gender equity or neutrality, etc. I hear a lot of people emphasize that we are a Republic, founded on Christian values more so than a democracy The more you let people be themselves, the more mortified others become. Not unwarranted in many cases. But in actuality, it just proves how free we actually are. In the end, we are all just trying to live without being judged or punished for who we are. Sorry for the seriousness. You just got me in a reflective mood. So it was your fault. Y’all better not be reading this like 😂😂😂 wtf is this guy!? Plus I got into an argument with a Trump supporter yesterday who kept telling me to wake up & thought I was the most naive person ever lol. I don’t care what your political views are. If you can’t explain things to me in a logical & factual way, I get very frustrated. The evolution of mankind & our country specifically is much more nuanced than the sound bite world we currently live in. Some might call me unpatriotic for these thoughts.
