Another solid review thanks James started on Burton step on hard boot bindings 30 years ago never let me down. Your review and Burton are equally rock solid. Thanks for a great review 🤙

They should make it 45% glass on the base like the cartel x. It makes it like a high end 2020 cartel. It’s awesome. Although haven’t tried the new 23 high back

Nice review James! would you recommend the genesis re:flex for a salomon assassin pro board?
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow 5 месяцев назад
Yeah that could work but I'd go with something even damper like the Phantom Plus as the Assassin Pro can be a chattery mess in uneven snow.

Hey there, is cranking down the front strap still a "problem" with the 2024 model? Did you find the same "problem" with other Burton bindings as well?

You mean the toe strap? If so yes.

How do you rate these vs earlier Genesis X EST?
@thegoodridesnow

Mellower. Gen X's were stiffer and more responsive.

Just moved to genesis this year, bought the 2022 version on sale. How do you adjust the boot contact to the highback. Should compress that hammock at all? Seems strange that my boots barely make contact. Moving from an old C60 model so this is a big change for me. Felt pretty sloppy. I understand the binding difference and I'm older and slower now so made this change with intent but just want to make sure I'm adjusted correctly.
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow Год назад
Did you rotate the high back so it matches your stance angle? That helps but that being said this just might not work for you if you are coming from a C60. I've ridden both and those are 2 very different bindings for 2 very different riding preferences.
@fridaytwilight
@fridaytwilight Год назад
@@thegoodridesnow yeah I did and I made a few adjustments to try out. But the boot to highback contact is about the same unless I were to crank up the forward lean. Just want to make sure I have this correct. Boot should just come in contact with the hammock correct? I bought softer boots and bindings to ride slower with my kid as she learns the slopes, but boy is it weird. Haha will probably change in a season or two to something different.
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow Год назад
Oh good. Yep you have it correct and yes it should just come in contact with the Hammock. Yes it is a huge adjustment from the C60 which was probably the stiffest highback Burton made. It should be fun though for riding with your daughter and you might get used to the shock absorbent high back. I like it a lot more than the C60 in uneven snow but the c60 is better for quick response in good conditions.
@cratra
@cratra Год назад
That's what you're lacking to do..., adjust forward lean. Most boots have around F3 in angle already built into the boot (Look at your boot profile side on). So forward lean at F0 is basically pushing the boot back into the highbacks 90 degree angle set. Forward lean gives you instant response into heelside turns...., I call this basically like power steering. The more Forward lean the more aggressive the response. Don't be scared of this though as it give a more direct response into heelside. I ride in an aggressive AM-Freeride-Powder running F5-6 on Genesis/Genesis X/ X-Base. @@fridaytwilight

@@cratra nah that wasn't really what I was talking about. Very familiar with forward lean. But thanks got it all figured last season.

Debating on trying the genesis out. I have been riding the Arbor cypress, but am curious on the Genesis. How much do you think they compare?
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow 6 месяцев назад
Pretty comparable. I personally like the Cypress a little better because I like the extra adjustability and the all rubber base vs. hard plastic and foam with the Genesis. I think you get a little more response and better toe straps too. All this being said I would definitely demo it as it's a very good binding too.
@suppaduppa5

@thegoodridesnow fasho! Yeah the second I got on my cypress I've been hooked. Literally switching it to whatever board I'm riding for the day lol

Got the Cartel X re:flex last season. Ankle straps are💩.. put my oldest bindings CO2s straps on to compensate. Have Genesis X which are the best bindings Burton have or will ever make. Got an extra pair since they're discontinued. Looks like B went back to the good straps but only on the Genesis? Well anyways U can buy them for $40 for a pair, whenever they will be back in stock... Oh & they do have special discs that u can go 1/2 inch increments laterally😉
@thegoodridesnow
@thegoodridesnow Год назад
Thanks for your input! I loved the co2 and genesis x too. Used to have those disks as well but i dont think burton makes them anymore and with the new environmental compliance standards I dont think they plan to make more. Let me know if you got them recently.

Love(d) my Genesis until they broke. Less than 20 days and high backs broke. Burton was great about sending me replacements, of course they didn't match and solid black. Going Union Atlas now. The Genesis hammock is wonky imo.
