Honest down to earth review , as you know we’ve spoke in depth about drums and burtons , but nice to see it six months on , and your opinion not changing , yep Polish koi , not there by a long way and just as expensive as Japanese koi for a poorer quality fish , just cleaned my shower out too , liking the look of the ceramic media Top job as always Stu 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽😀😀😀😀
Good review Stuart, fair comment, fish and garden looking smashing, I will get a drum one day, not a Burton one 😉, Queni for me I think, cos the space behind my pond, like a twat, I should have built my pond 2 foot shorter, my filter rabbit hatch is bang right up to my fence, so I have 3 foot width, but got plenty of depth dough, live and learn, I would move to start again 😆
@@surreykoihi , how you getting on with the Cube burton filter now as I was going to buy one but after seeing your 6 month review no so sure..?! Please advise 😅
@@GordonHill-f6e I’ve recently had to fix the replacement as the cog arm came off because there is too much play on the small cog… pump’s almost burnt out again! I’ve fitted a 5mn washer to the arm and it seems to have done the trick although shouldn’t need doing! My advice is buy another a si will be next season
I really don’t understand all of this technology. It only keeps you chasing parameters. Use plants in a natural bog filter up flow through three stages of gravel to clean the way mother nature intended. That’s always the best method.
Just found your channel. I like the good honest review but I have to say, I have the Burtons TF500 drum what’s coming up to 2 years old and its never missed a beat. Mine doesn’t shake, mine is outside and I would highly recommend them. I also have the Bio tank 1500 and the SS shower. All are spot on… It’s a real shame you’ve had trouble. Is it still working now? Or have you moved on from it?
@@surreykoi your old one did look like it was built on a Sunday morning after a cheap flight out to Dublin for a Stag do 😂 and I've seen one in person and it looked pretty good, I'll see if I can find one of your later vids but I was wondering are you still happy with your new BD300 cube. We currently have a Draco drum that we've had for 5 or 6 years without fault even though others have had problems and say they're bad quality. As we're enlarging our pond this year we were thinking of upgrading to the 300cube as you seem to be running 30-40 thousand lph through yours and our Draco solum 25 struggles with 20,000 lph (gravity fed) even though it's rated to 25,000 and your drum is rated to 30,000 but can clearly handle more !
@@oliverskinner8962 hi pal, the new version wasn’t much better in the end so I suggest going for the next model up which seems to be ok or go for the Red Label ones which seem to be really good. I’m actually putting in an upgraded Filtreau drum in I picked up new at half price 🤷🏼♂️
@@surreykoi so what exactly was wrong with it our Draco is a bit wobbly when full of water 2 years in it started making noises when rotating the washers on the spray jets are all gone and leak when on a cleaning cycle all things we expect from a 5 year old drum (apart from maybe Oase 🤣) and none of these things really stop it from keeping our pond clean. We are only thinking of the BD300cube because for the threw flow it can handle with the fact that all other drums (now including Draco) have moved to 70+ micron and Burton's is still 60 micro and 30,000+ LPH. Is it really that bad ? And if so what exactly is so bad about it
Well I guess I won't be buying a Burton's drum and if I did after 6-months I would be on there case if I had that trouble got a still be under warranty.. you sure that's swell pump isn't a 35000😀 great video buddy you do make me laugh straight talk is what it's about 👍
We are running 2 burtons tf 1000 had 2 pumps fail a lid censor and like you said lid also don't fit properly. The Vibration from them are unbelievable . Currently working on my own design built out of fibre glass. The filters do the job but build quality is shit
@@surreykoi they did replace the pumps and have been really helpful. Unfortunately I just don't think there build quality is upto the job. Nice pond btw
