Unfortunately, with construction of the new airport, tourists have no chance to reach to the city center but busses for which you have to pay 18 Turkish Liras. However, do not bother about the transportation fees in the city center, they are 2,60 Turkish Liras. Also Istanbul's publis transportation is very sophisticated. You can check suitable subways, public busses, ships and trams in Istanbul via that link: www.iett.istanbul/en You can ask me whatever you want to ask about Turkey or Istanbul. Jstubbs68 it was already operating prior to April however these were not international flights they were flights serving within Turkey. However, Turkish airlines set up its headquarters in this new airport now serving both international & domestic flights to all passengers, this is why they launched the airport in April, Turkish airlines marked a big occasion where they moved all their flights from Ätaturk to this new airport.
They are building 2 metro lines. One from city center to the airport and one from Halkalı to the airport. The one from the city center will not open in 2020, but mid 2021. The one from Halkalı will open in 2023.
You don't need to buy an Istanbul card for the bus from the airport to the city. The driver accepts credit cards as you enter the bus. You can buy the Istanbul card later at a vending machine for the Metro, city buses and city tram.

I travelled to Istanbul last month. That is one big airport. Didn’t know about shuttle service. Cost me and family over € 80 to get to Istanbul city where the hotel was. Transport was pre booked by hotel.
Oh yes, very confortable, it's take 1 hour or little more from the airport to Taksim, there's a bus every half hour. I took in on April 2019, for 35 lira (under 6 euro)... The taxi, Uber or any another schedule take no, less than 240 lira, 40 euro.
Mucahid Cakmak u mean there is a direct shuttle bus to Sultanahmet area? Or do I have to make a transfer at eminonu? And where at Sultanahmet area the bus drop off? Please help as I’m going istanbul next month and plan to stay at Sultanahmet area. By the way , is Sultanahmet nearer to the new airport?

You will need 2 hrs to/from the city, plus the time it takes to clear customs and immigration plus you have to be back 2 hours before departure so I’m guessing you will have less than 2 hours in Istanbul. Too much hassle in my opinion.

I go to Istanbul every year but this is helpful thanks! I’ve been taking Havatas bus to taksim and back. I just pay by cash when I board the bus and never had to buy the Istanbul card. Is that card only for havaist operator? Is havatas bus operator no longer working?
No No , No ,You do not to need to purchase " Istanbul Cart" to take Havabus to Istanbul city center.Not necessary at all. I purchased ticket at Havabus ticket booth right outside of exit with cash. 18LIRA. (They accept debit card, credit card off course.) You can buy Istanbul Cart anytime later on while You are in Istanbul. Do not make the matter confused. Please.
Busse mit Luftfederung WLAN und Monitor sind Standard in der Türkei ... natürlich auch dadurch begünstigt weil es nicht so viel Zugverbindungen gibt ... der Bus ist quasi der Zug der Türken und da die Konkurrenz riesig ist wird natürlich aufgerüstet 😜

Is IST-1 a direct line to Hagia Sofia (Sultanahmet stop) because at Google maps shows that I have to take IST-1 and get off to Aksaray and take the T1 to Sultanahmet? Also, when I return from Taksim Sq. do I take IST-19 from a stop at the square or I have to take DT2 to Zincirlikuyu - Üniversite and from there IST-5 to the airport as Google maps suggests? Do you know if Istanbulkart machines accept credit cards? Thank you very much.

Yes wife but not easy, they need your mobile number sending sms to connect. When I did I realized they took all my prepaid money, so won't connect again

Hi take bus(havaist) to TAKSİM then 1 station with cable line(funeküler) to KABATAŞ change on tramvay after 3 stations you are in karaköy/ galatabridge.. Lıke this you can not fail good journey 😉

@@AirportTraveller I found out that you can take it at no extra charge, it might give a surprised look at first but in the end no problem. And since there a regular schema you can always try the next bus when refused.

92 93 your going to land in the new airport, Atatürk is going to serve as a cargo depot now, so it doesn’t serve as a fully functioning airport anymore that carries passengers on flights.
Bus service is bad. Service price per person 25 lira from Istanbul to kozyatağı. But in conclusion not reaching the destination. The driver does not follow the path. But turn and let the passengers down in the middle of the way. Next time I hope.. I will not happen like this again.
