Another bus vid now from St Albans, an old Roman & market city in Hertfordshire. Filmed back in September 2019 when i was working at the St Albans Beer Festival, we see a good variety of routes, vehicles and operators--34, 84, 301, 302, 305, 321, 357, 361, 601, 602, 653, 724, S1, S4 & S8 with operators Arriva, Centrebus, Metroline, Red Eagle, Red Line, UnoBus and Vale Travel. A good mix of vehicle types Enviro 200+400, Scania, Steetlite, Volvo & Mercedes. We also see some ex Abellio London Enviro 200s and Metroline uses ex London Envire 400s on the 84 which although it runs to New Barnet Station is not a London route. If you liked the video please subscribe to my channel, there are lots more transport & quirky vids to upload!

Memories! i was born and bred in St Albans where London Country was king except for route 84 which was London Transport (and a red bus) to Barnet.

Of course before 1970 London Country was the Country Bus Department of London Transport! And there were a few places where red routes penetrated deep into country bus territy, even today route 81 goes to Slough, and routes 218 & 219 used to get out to Weybridge & Walton on Thames, the 237 to Chertsey or the 21A to Swanley!

Yes, sadly i know too well, i enjoy working there all week! And i would say next year's look doubtful. It takes most of the year to organise, so until there is certainty in life again CAMRA are not holding any beer festivals....but we do plan to be back as soon as we can!

Well they don't sound any worse than the last RMs. Their one positive are the hubodometers still being attached to the rear hub. The Mercs were my favourite. There will be someone out there who wants to preserve an example or two of each of these buses down the line.

I know of a UNO bus or two preserved by one of their engineers....

Nice! I love how the 84 still looks like a tfl route with it's ex-Metroline E400s still painted red and it's white blinds. It almost seems like a troll haha.

They do look good in full LT red, we have a couple of ex Metroline VPLs where i live and they are running round in LT red, looks great against a mountain brackdrop, see here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Lt2ytio08zs.html. And of couse in LT days, the 84 was indeed a London route and you could travel out to St Albans on a Red Bus Rover ticket!

305 Mertoline never seen it? I like the S1 Red Eagle, I see the operate of Abellio and it's still looks like a London bus?

The 305 is a Hertfordshire Council contract route unlike the 84 which is a commercial route. There are around 6 ex London routes double deckers on the 84, all the LT equipment has been removed (i-bus, TfL ticket machine ect) and they just work the 84 and very rarely the 242 to Waltham Cross.....
