Thank you! and yes it is/does, it also makes for some grand adventures and I love it there! I am going back to that same place next year and I can't wait!
love that backpack sling sack whatever it is in the begining would love to see a closeup, i know its propably a simple design but there is a beauty in simplicity
Not everyone that watches you watches Coalcracker. Even if you put out the same idea you will have your own unique style. You have an awesome channel and enjoy watching you.
Agreed. I'm here for fun, interesting, unique take on a fantasy and reenactment. Cool video about bush craft is welcome, but that's just not my thing so I don't watch channels dedicated to that topic. Cheers!
very true, but I still would have felt a bit like a copycat putting out the exact same video the same week he did, so it just seemed more fair to link his video
Found your site through coalcrafter bushcraft ! Wonderful job . He just used one stick with one hook , you however branched out with a more multi use idea 😊. I am and have been a fan of Tolkien and have partaken in the society of creative anachronism many years ago. Subbed and liked to show support. I appreciate your time and creative effort to make these videos and share them with your viewers. Good job Sir Lodo !
Excellent tip. I use para-cord and a toggle so I don't have to look for a forked stick every time I go to the woods. It is also quicker to just use cordage and a toggle. This is the first time one of your videos popped up in my feed in the four years you have been making them, so I subscribed so I can see more. Tis a good morning here in Canada, a light mist outside but I am drinking tea inside. Will be going out soon.
Thanks, and thank you for the sub :) and I guess I would do that if I wasn't building a semi-permanent camp, but most of the time I just throw stuff on the floor LOL
Good idea, for my rucksack i put a long stick around the back of the tree and hook my straps on it. The bag weight puts the stick to the tree supporting itself if wet it keeps it off the ground
It's a good idea to hang up stuff and keep it dry. But I carry six-inch thick rusty nails and big honking hammer to drive the nails into the tree where I leave them for others to enjoy. Naaah. Just kidding. The other thing I like about this is that it keeps everything collected in one spot so there's less chance to wander away and leave something behind. Thanks for sharing the idea. I do have a question about the sack you were carrying on your back. You were hanging it up around the 0:55 mark. It reminded me of a Snapsack but those are usually long and tube shaped. Yours just looks like a regular bag with a strap. When you have a moment of spare time, can you give me the basic dimensions of the bag, the width of the strap and how it's attached to the bag. Any comment on material would also help too. I'd like to try to find or make something similar. I'm guessing you've already experimented with bag size, material, attaching straps, etc, so I'd appreciate being able to copy all your lessons learned. And btw, I'd love getting something handmade from a Dwarven so if you'd like to make me one I'd be happy to pay in advance. Not trying to pressure you with commercialism, just thinking if you have time and want to earn cash for other projects, hook me up!
LOL! But joking aside it is fine to put nails in dead trees for this reason, there's a few places in the past where I have had more permanent woodland camps where I had done this! for me the best advantage is that if your stuff is raised up in the air it is easier to spot and harder to loose if you wander off to scout the area I have literally just filmed a video (not edited yet) about the sack I had in this video because many people have been asking about it, it should be up soon ;) and I'm glad you like it so much but I don't do commissions (full time job/no time etc... and as soon as you do one thing for one person many more people also want stuff), hope you understand, but it is easy to make and I will make a tutorial video for it very soon ;)
@@IodoDwarvenRanger I have a veshmashok and while you can't carry a lot of weight it is a great minimalist pack. It is also versatile as you showed being able to carry as a standard back pack or across the body as a sling bag. They are well made but you must have cut the straps on ea. side off. They are used for holding your blanket roll on.
good question, this camp was just a woodland base for bushcraft and fun while on holiday and we were staying not far away, so I didn't try to hard, but if you wanted to do this at camp and keep your stuff dry from rain you would have to put the tarp tight up against the tree, or attach the hook to one of the pieces of wood in the middle of the tarp structure
I also have a friend in the UK. Her name is Andy, she came to visit me. Nice to find you on RU-vid, what's your name? can you let me know. I subscribe to support you. like your channel
Thank you! Maintaining stuff like that is to complicated and time consuming and so far the channel is for fun, not profit, so I haven't set up any other websites or socials, thanks for asking though, if I ever do they'll be linked from the video descriptions
