I think more of a concern than finding food and water, would be surviving the crocodiles, located in the isolated northern areas of Australia. You could end up being the bush tucker for the crocodiles. Don’t underestimate them. They can hold there breath under water for up to an hour.
Love this! Of course, that was a fair bit of meat & effort to catch one yabby. Probably could've just chucked that bit of bait meat in the stew & got a bit of protein too...not as good TV though :)
Footenote: Aboriginal's and war. Over here, the entire eastern colonial region from the Atlantic to the Great Lake's was much like Waziristan! = Everyone armed to the teeth. French, British, then American army's clashing. Native band's ranging the wood's. Alliances, betrayal's, ..I think you're aboriginal's had a much lighter deal. Australia is lucky it was never like us in Canada.
