Great to see an American survival channel use a normal knife for once and not the usual MASSIVE tactical, Rambo(III)-esque knife. Good show sir and great information. Thank you it.

That where my thoughts also. I am guessing at best this knife is about 4 1/2 probably 5 inches. Plenty of knife. My EDC is a cold steel about 4 1/4 inches. I have a 6 1/2 for the field, I use it for camping. But that is the biggest one I have. The only exception I can think of is a Kurki for camping. But use what you got.

Think about this dude - a ranger - telling us a solid but inexpensive knife ..no big deal if something happens to it vs the ace cost of knives on all those "Knife Review" channels by dudes you can tell spend most of their time just playing videos games and pretend man. Almost never one under a $100

Also you can tape a sewing needle and a fish hook or two to the sheath before you wrap with paracord. The inner strands of the paracord can be used as sewing thread or fishing line as a backup.

This Mora is the exact knife we chose for our young troops for their first fixed blade. One thing we noticed was that rubber bands made from bicycle innertubes did not last in our tropical environment. We experimented with several different tubes to find the best sizes for our applications. Next, we may purchase brand new innertubes in an attempt to get a longer-lasting band. If anyone has a better, long-term solution to bicycle innertube rubber, please post it, it will certainly be of help to many viewers. Thank you, Ranger, for the video, we always walk away with new and useful information

@NewhampshireJack you can use the thickest o-rings you can find from hydraulics or auto parts to hold the knife in the sheath. I have one on mine i have used for years. You just have to experiment a bit to find the right size. Hope this helps.

@@jasonprairie9968 Thank you, great idea. I have an assortment of O-rings for doing small repairs but none were large enough. There are a plethora of auto parts and hydraulic repair shops located along the General Douglas MacArthur National Highway. Our OPhilippine subdivision is located directly off the highway so I am thinking of a short walk on a cool morning and we may have a solution.

I scraped the rounded back across a carbide sharpening rod for my 90° back. I have many more knives now but still use my Companion and will now modify the sheath as you showed. Hi Andrew😊 thanks for another interesting video, you can't beat a mora knife for giving you the best bang for your buck, so cheap and light maybe it would be a good idea to carry two, one thing I would add is a small sharpening device , like a DC4 diamond/ ceramic stone , as trying to find a suitable stone in the field is not always possible., and practice using it before shtf happens. Stay safe Major, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart UK.
