On this adventure I built a Primitive Moss Shelter with only natural materials and with minimal gear. Using my hands, my bushcraft knife, axe and jute twine I built the shelter in about 4 hrs of steady work. I started with the raised bed made of dead standing spruce logs and then constructed the main frame around that. Next, I used dead spruce bows to form the base that would hold the moss on the roof. Once complete, I started a campfire and cooked my steak on the coals and enjoyed a cold beer while the sun set. Then building a shelter like this I had to make sure I started in an area with all the right resources so I didn’t have to travel for them. I should be back soon to do some winter camping in the shelter.
