Welsh inventor John Boff entered The Den with the EcoSpot: a product that reduces musculoskeletal injuries by 70%, according to a University of Swansea trial. John Boff seeks £25K in return for a 15% equity stake which isn't a high ask for someone with 27 years of experience as a bricklayer so who will get behind this passionate bricklayer?
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

What an insane move by Deborah. So brilliant!! I think the guy eventually made the right call. Can't imagine people with hundreds of millions really looking to grow a 5.000£ investment for a 7.5% stake. Deborah is the most well connected Dragon as far as his business goes and he'll have her time and focus. Plus if anyone can help him with getting that patent sorted it's her. If they increase his sales by even just double... which should be a piece of cake given hes barely selling it.. hes already making more back. Deborah gets these used by just 1 big house building company like persimon or barrat.... well you heard how many brickies on site per house. With proper business contacts and them getting it to markets he couldnt, they add way more value than they take away. So even though they are taking a sizeable chunk which seems unfair, in the longer term its a massive investment for him and could make him a hell of a lot more.

@@everythinggoodsfeckingtaken Yeah, It sucks getting such cut but economicaly it make sense. it is the same logic where you take on debts to grow your business if you can calculate that interests from that loan will be lower then future gains from that growth. Technicaly you are giving someone some of your money away through interest on that loan but in the end both sides are winner if boths sides calculated things realisticaly

In the end the investment didn't go through so I imagine he's working alone. And going well!

My old dad was a bricklayer and this would have made his job so much easier , and most probably saved his back ..

I work in construction (in the U.S.), and I've seen a similar concept done by a few bricklayers on jobs I've been on. They normally just take one of the brackets used to secure ladders to the scaffold and weld them to a piece of sheet steel, and it seems to do the job. I'm sure a pre-made one would sell well if it's reasonable.
