@@bunniecult yes!! I have separated everything out & washed it by era & am getting ready to do a video! Think sequin express mini skirts, sheer tops, platform mules, fold over boots, low rise flare jeans, bubble banded bottom dress/tunics, ringer tees!! Even jewelry purses & accessories! There’s so much I don’t even know where to begin 🥳😹 working on the styling now.
A girl really asked me when I was a teen if I was a mormon, because I was wearing this long plaided skirt once. It was dark red and black and I thought I looked punk lol, I was so offended
All the girls forced to dress modestly by their family wore those long denim skirts back in the day...ill always associate them with a sort of depressing vibe
@@veronicasmith2612same here lol and guess what? As an adult woman in my 30s now, I found myself accidentally reverting back to my meager Modest ways lol
@@ingramr88 Oddly enough, me too. As a teen I wanted to wear skimpy clothes but now I'm finding them inconvenient. I'm leaning more towards midi skirts
@@fanficYAOIyNOYAOIyea chunky necklaces have been coming back but I don’t think they are being taken from the 2010s but more of late 80s early 90s since chunky gold jewelry became popular during that era also
as someone who lived through this, it’s not really the right style for 2010s statement necklace. back then they were chunky, brightly colored & usually costume/theater grade. today we have more simple, minimalism-inspired designs like dainty charms or coins. maximalism is def a trend but we focus on clothing or bags for that now. it’s all inspired from somewhere else but i would say it’s less 2010s & more 90s.
Girl in elementary school asked if I couldn’t wear a shorter skirt bc of my religion, I’m not religious 💀 I mean valid question, but no Renee it’s not bc my religion-it’s bc we’re literally 8
@@NotAStanAccounthoney, i live those days. And we know how to lower ourselves with those skirt. Especially when we wore ugg-boots. Wonder why she can't?
as a very short girlie, 5” on a good day, i second this! i’ve never had a complex over my height but wearing long denim skirts like that often makes me feel wider & shorter. i’m trying to warm back up to the thought of boho maxi skirts at this point 😂
Fr? My floor-length denim skirt is one of my fave bottoms - but it _is_ admittedly black, & mermaid-cut, so not terribly conservative. It fits so beautifully that I honestly wish it was stretch denim rather than vintage type, bc it doesn't give me a lot of freedom of movement, lol. Here in Aus, we don't really have the "long denim skirts = religious fundies" association that I've gathered from reading other comments that there is in the US; a cute skirt is just a cute skirt, regardless of where the hemline hits or what the fabric is.
Why did this skit just teleport me back to high school lol do y’all remember our Avril Lavigne era where we went around wearing ties? Lol I def rocked a tie or two in that era lol as a girl, i stole ties from my dad cause he already had them tied and ready lol
The trick to picking stuff up like that is to drop down using your knees (idk if I’m explaining it right) but basically you want to bend your knees and move your butt closer to the ground at the same time. It takes some practice, but eventually you can get it in a smooth motion kinda like how models do it (this is my experience as a cosplayer, it may look weird in normal clothes idk)
The way we perfected those body rolls to get up & down without flashing our knickers. 😂 The layered camis will forever make me think of Ashlee Simpson.
Your short denim skirts are so adorable and your 2004 outfit looks so classy, timeless, and just so PRETTY. Btw can you show us the popular preppy girls wardrobe in 2003 and 2005 versus the nerdy girls wardrobe pleaseee. It would be so nice and cute to know. Plus girl you SLAY and your so pretty though 💗😍✨
This! Did these girls just . . . *hang out* at the gas station? We used to go to 711 for gas, snacks, and Slurpees. Would show up to the house parties having drunk down like 1/4 of my Coke Slurpee then fill it back up with something more interesting. #millennialmagic
2004's silhouette is not very good, imo. The long shirt and short zip-up makes the torso look freakishly long, and the weird seam in her skirt makes it look even longer. Giving yourself hotdog body is not cute at all to me lol
LOL...truth!! I had a skirt really close to that one, but it flared out like a tennis skirt it was actually 1999 when i had that skirt!! I remember that because there are specific events i attended wearing the skirt😂🤭🙃
Gotta agree with 04 girlie, I'm plenty warm with multiple shirts/hoodie. And booty biker shorts, and growing up fundamentalist scarred me from decent skirt lengths😂
she can still pick it up, u just bend ur knees, ur gonna be in a squat sit position(with ur legs together of course) then use ur leg strength to stand back up😉
For those who unfortunately don't know this yet: If you're wearing a short skirt and want to lift something from below you can use your knees instead of bending over. Rest assured that nothing is visible, it is tested, patented, everything you need and in addition it is good for your health (for the poor spine that supports us for hours) to get used to bending from the knees instead of from the back.
Idk if it depends on where you live but where i am the 2004 outfit is literally exactly what teens wear in 2024. Its very y2k which is very in right now.
I always find it hilarious when women who wear short skirts apparently don’t know how to crouch. Like bending over isn’t the only way to pick stuff up 😂
I dress vintage 30s-60s mainly 50s anyways that bend is literally my signature in heels im so clumsy 😅 I used to get judged for it at school cause with my arthritis sometimes when I would bend down my knees would lock up and I would be stuck sitting there until someone coukd help me its pretty embarrassing tbh
I had a visceral flashback to trying to drink from the water fountain and having to curtsy so guys wouldn’t smack my butt. (Even wearing normal jeans or whatever.)
Since 90s trends are have been coming back so hard the last few years 90s denim skirt and 2024 denim skirt could be wearing almost the same outfit. This time next year with aughties trends rising 2004 and 2025-26 might be the same as well. And oh gosh, I love seeing both.
Thank goodness I always pretty much hated skirts and dresses and rarely wore them. 😅 Even then, I only ever tried one "mini" skirt and said "HECK NO!" 😣 Nothing shorter than just above the knee and nothing as tight as a pencil skirt for me, pleated or circle skirt only, or A-line, empire waisted dresses when needed. 😅 Only exception was a bridesmaid dress because I had no choice. 😂 No need to do the short skirt maneuvers to pick things up for me, thanks. 😝
So that I can pick stuff up in a short skirt I take a knee; it gets me low to the ground while also keeping so dignity. I always wear shorts underneath any length skirt so I don't really have that issue but if I can't find shorts that day then that's what I do.
The pink cardigan outfit is actually very 2020-2024 hyped up revival for younger people , eg. vaquera and Maroske Peech - and she would probably do a dance move exposing a very consciously matched g-string to pick up the lipgloss. What is supposedly 2024 looks like meh/ not even any definite era - bit of a bland 2019 chainstore mash
Well, the short skirt girl clearly never learned how to pick stuff up the ergonomic way, cause that would have worked while exposing her no more than sitting on a chair would have. As a reminder for everyone who didnt have that drilled into their head during their apprenticeship, the back is supposed to be in a 90° angle compared to the ground, only the legs and arms are supposed to move. Well, you can do it the other way, but if you do, you loose your complaining privilege if you are to strain your back.
I did see some girls ice skating once and noticed they were all wearing long skirts. They actually were members of a religious group and the attire was a dead giveaway. Also Once my mom turned up to go out also in a long skirt and I insisted one of us had to change because we’d look like we were in a cult. ITS JUST TRUE, okay? 😅
The 2024 skirt is not my style but at the same time I've never felt comfortable wearing the 2004 skirt, I like my freedom and not having to mind every single move I make lol
I wore long denim skirts for most my childhood & was only allowed pants at 18 so yes I was kinda in a cult. Also girl in the short skirt, just do the quick drop. It’s not that hard bby you got this.
I use to wear denim skirts 6 years ago but stopped because my i thought my legs were fat, muscular and not slim enough. I use to despise my legs and wish I had slender legs like the Black girls in my class and the White girls in my classroom. Sometimes I’ve wished to just do anything to have skinnier legs because it is more desirable especially in Korean and Japanese cultures I’ve been exposed to since age 5..
