Donner is the company to watch for in the future. They are making big moves somehow. I feel like they made a little amazon money and then pumped it all back into producing better stuff. I think I want this.
@@yumyumyum659 He is already sharing his last name with Jason Richardson, he can tell companies that he's the better skilled cousin playing under the shadows 🤣🤣🤣
The "touch buttons" are called capacitive buttons, and work exactly like the iPod scroll wheel. Love how in depth the reviews are, especially with being so affordable this legitimately helps me make a decision on if I want to buy it, keep it up!
What would be interesting is the live abillty it has. Does it have a latency when switching from rythm to clean or lead or is it smooth ? i personally use the Line6 pod go so far but it has latency when switching between presets, wich is a bit annoying when i need to switch from my rythm patch to my lead patch for a solo or to clean for a clean part. There's always a very noticable lag there. Does it have this ? i want to upgrade to the line6 hx stomp because that device doesn't has any lag/latency when switching presets.
Just once in any of these multi fx demos I would like to see someone switching presets in real time. Preset change lag is a big deal imo and nobody shows that side of things.
So true. I've used the Helix Stomp and the Ampero, and both have lag between preset changes. Which sucks. Cos lets say you have a clean tone presets, and a heavy chug preset. If you wanna jump between them there is always a present change lag. Must be a limitation on the modelling side of things. Unless it doesn't happen on the Quad Cortex.
This is going to prompt Neural and others to start offering a more budget friendly platform to compete with this. Sounds fantastic especially for the price
Mine came with only 36 presets, as well. I emailed #Donner, but their response did not address the issue. I don't really use the presets, anyway. So, I don't care at this point. Definitely, an excellent unit for the money. Great sounds for metal guitar.
Excellent little run through on this! Seems like it'll get the job done and at the very least help with some ideas and inspiration for writing on a budget. 🤘
I can’t get the highs to come through for the life of me with mine. I’ve been trying to use it with a boss katana artist as a power cab. Mine tends to sound muffled for some reason. Any suggestions?
What do you plug it into though? Like can I just run it into my black star tube amp and if so doesn’t that defeat the purpose of selecting the amp and cab in the interface?
DOES this have a WHAMMY effect? I am wondering if I can use the expression pedal to shift the pitch up and/or down to play Thall riffs. Let me know - thanks!! And thanks for posting this awesome review. The demo track slays!!
Great video! I would really love to hear a quick demo of it with a 7 string or 8 string. My metal band could really use this but I'm skeptical of modelers like this handling low tunings...
Im curious, are you sure youre saying Aristides correctly? i have no clue. Ive been saying "A-RIS-TI-Deez" As if it were an ancient greek name or something.
Gotta love a Company that's trying to give people a Guitar Processer that's affordable!! 👏 In a world of $1000+ Guitar effect units this is Fantastic!! 💯 Can't believe how many things they put in that. Shame on the big names for marking their products up so high.
Depends what your goal is - if you’re looking to record or hear just yourself a unit like this will be great for a beginner - but if you want it for a band or jam scenario keep in mind you’ll also need some way to plug it into monitors or a power amp
You can get a decent pair of monitors for like $300 or you can look into power options like the Orange Terror Stamp ($200) and plug it into a guitar cabinet. Either way, you need to drop some extra money to actually move some air with these floor units. Think of them like a really fancy preamp.
Hello, I got one of these devices and wanted to connect it to the DAW software on my Laptop (Reaper). However it only records clean tones. Any idea/tips for the settings?
I bought one of these 2 weeks ago. I don't think i could ever look back. It fekin awsome. The ability to upload your own IR's was the final selling point for me. It really is a fantastic sounding unit. Nice video buddy. Fantastic tune as well.
Do I run this through my amp or do I need a computer with software? Im new to this tech stuff and have been playing through a simple amp and one drop pedal for years lol
How easy was it to put in IRs reason I ask is because I bought the very very stupid BOSS IR 200 and until someone makes a how to use video it’s a paperweight with 128 patches just like BOSS GT 1
@@billyturk8117 I play in a hardcore/beatdown band called Total Loss. I definitely recommend the NUX as it has more features, plus you can load your own IR’s onto it. I’m still using stock IR’s though cause they sound really good
@@Gran_Aut1sm0 the valeton has way more high gain amps and you can load your own irs I'm pretty sure. IDC really about all the features or amount of amps as long as what's on there sounds good. I'll be using it through a physical power amp and cab, mostly. Is it easy to use live or do you use a midi footswitch? What amp model do you use for high gain? I pretty much mostly play deathcore stuff too
@@billyturk8117 the amp you use will be mostly based on preference, I was using a 5150 but now I use a Marshall 45 plexi. I run my NUX into an Orange terror stamp return to bypass the preamp and then that powers my cab. The NUX has the best quality sound and set up for the price point. Even has a effects loop for other pedals which not all budget processors offer
High gain overdrive sounds like an all-semiconductor amp from the late 80s / early 90s. Which means preamp tube emulating algorithms here are inferior to other comparable modelers (like NUX MG-30 or Hotone Ampero). The interface looks nice, but as we all know what really counts in this kind of gear is the tone. It may be great for clean effects, still quite good for "crunch" tones - just not the best choice for Metal.
Great video and sounds good for the price! I’ve had a few different modelers from cheap to nice and can get amazing tones but I end up messing with everything more than actually playing. Wanted to grab another HX stomp but might pick this up for less than half the price. It’s nice to just plug headphones into or studio monitors
/// UPDATE : Donner Control was updated to 1.1.0 and it now appears to be working. /// I received my Donner Arena 2000 today. The Windows software called "Donner Arena 2000 Control" does absolutely nothing! It installs properly, but it looks like a "placeholder" for future functionality, it shows Donner products aaaaand, that's it. Pretty frustrated right now, I hope they're going to release something helpful very soon...
@@BaenaCarcosa Really strange… I’ve owned a dozen of multi-effect units over the years, I know my way around these things. but even stranger is that Windows recognizes the unit since I see it in the USB audio devices and I hear my Windows audio loud and clear through the Arena 2000! So the PC sees the device to some extent. Oh well…
Who in their right mind is actually looking for a model of those shitty amps? 😂😂😂 I rejoiced the day I got rid of my Valvestate, and this happened a couple of months ago, I don't wanna see or hear that POS ever again in my life, I really wonder why someone would 😂😂
@@Rusli1659LPSoldier it got replaced 2 years ago, the original Marshall branded tube was still good though. My Valvestate just suffered from old age, but it was never good when new to begin with. People are creating mysticism around old gear that everyone hated when it was new, making it seem legendary now, for reasons I can't possibly explain.
I'd say so - sounds pretty good with quite a few options built in, and can be recorded direct out or used as an audio interface all for under $300 is pretty nuts
