Whem my dad was having chemo treatments that took 4 hours a day, I used a Rubbermaid food storage box, that was small enough to fit in my purse, to take along enough tools & pieces to sew. It kept me sane & the staff & other patients enjoyed watching my progress. After my dad passed, I donated a quilt to the clinic, in his memory, for their patients to cuddle in while getting their treatments.
I love hearing about your grandma. You have that love in everything you do. I’m so happy I found you on here. I totally understand that you need something to do with your hands as you’re sitting with others. It’s in our blood, THE TRUE LOVE OF BEING A CRAFTER!!! Thank you for sharing!!
That's awesome! I have been doing sashiko as a portable project and I love it. Handsewing might be slow but it's relaxing and doesn't keep you from socializing. Your quilt is lovely and the fact that it's done slowly by hand, and also with family, just makes it more special. I bet kids would enjoy helping with a project like this too. Even littler kids can learn to do a whip stitch!
I actually learned EPP last year and I really have loved doing it. I need to pick mine up again and finish my project. Just not sure what the final project will be!
lol sorry! I pull it out once the paper is landlocked by other fabrics except for the edge of the quilt. I leave those papers in until I make my quilt sandwich. I just pull up one flap of the fabric once the hexi is sewn and pull the paper out from there
@shesewsseams Yes, a video on pulling the paper please! And do you trim the excess fabric? Show us more! I enjoy all the real life in your videos, thanks.
I purchased the hexagon templates from Amazon. My size says they're 1.73 inches by 2 inches at the longest points. What size of fabric squares would I need to use? Thank you for your channel. It is helping me so much!!
I would really like to try this. How many templates do i need and the size? How do you remove the paper? Sorry if these are silly questions. Sorry about your Gran ❤
Do the stitches need to be very tight together? This looks like normal whip stitching. I tried this and I liked it but had trouble seeing to make the stitches so tiny. Am I trying to hard to make them perfect??
Using junk mail for your paper pieces is a great way to "reuse" something that would've gone in the trash anyway. I save my junk mail for just this purpose.
Nope! Go right above it! But it’s not the end of the world if you catch a little bit in the threads. Just makes it a little harder to remove the papers
