I like this, the retro aesthetic is great and the sunburst is just fantastic. Then that hit of orange with the black. Spot on. Its a shame that so many overlook these. Some real good ones if you know what to look for.
Hi Gary, thanks for your review on the Accurist Chrono. Hopefully I’ll be coming over to the UK some time soon,so will be looking into getting one. But will have to take her in doors shopping as well.🤣🤣
Lovely watch. Pleasantly surprised Accurist are putting out watches like this. I have a couple of chrono's with Seiko VK6* movements. I prefer the bicompax movement without the running seconds as there's nothing to give it away that it's a quartz.
Actually have this watch myself and its still one of my favourites swapped out the leather strap it came on to a stainless mesh, total stunner, but bit small for my shrek wrists
Yes I bought that reverse panda Francis & Gaye have last year and love it .I thought I'd change out the leather strap but it's so comfortable and looks great so never bothered.
Lovely looking watch. Something different but not "crazy" different. I used to be a bit snobbish about automatic watches vs quartz battery watches but I must admit as my collection has grown and many watches don't get worn as often, it gets a bit boring having to get watches going and setting the time and date every time. There's a lot to be said for a watch you can throw on in the morning and it just works.
Got one myself over a year ago. It's such a cool-looking watch .... Just love the overall design. Pretty happy with the mesh bracelet myself .... think it looks perfect and is very comfortable. The only thing I'd change is to lose the redundant 24hr subdial and replace it with a running seconds one. I paid £98 - Bargain!
It's a lovely watch with excellent finishing for the price and some attention to detail. If it only had sapphire, shouldn't be too expensive it's a round flat piece.
Try the Geckota. Identical case, sapphire, screw down crown, drilled lugs and Fab Seiko movement. Not sure if they still make it, but it's a beautiful watch.
I found one at 10% off on ebay and stuck it in my basket. This morning I checked and it had been changed to 20% off so I went for it. Looking forward to getting it. Now for a strap!
Do wish it was mecha-quartz for a smoother sweep or used the Seagull ST19. Here is the U.S. it is also harder to get and more expensive (I just looked). I do like the look - always a fan of blue and orange but the silver sunburst dial is stunning.
I think Quartz is the way to go for a Chrono. This is a good deal and ppl will love it.I really don’t like it but I can see the appeal.Reminds me of the Briston Clubmaster, just 2-3 times more expensive.
The biggest problem with these cheap quartz chrono's is that with no sweeping seconds hand the whole chronometer part is essentially useless. There are markings on the speed track that are between the whole seconds. This would be 100X the watch with a sweeping mecha-quartz movement. Form should follow function, not the other way around.
Oddly, it seems to not show running seconds. However, that eliminates the annoying, galumphing seconds hand, so it's a deletion that I welcome. In my world time moves seamlessly, like a Spring Drive, not stepping forward a la quartz. I like the design very much.
That is one good looking watch Gary. I think you're right, straps are better. I always wonder about the 50m water resistance. I use a Samsung Watch Active 2 for the rowing machine and also to measure my swimming laps in the pool and that has 50m water resistance and has a dedicated swimming app. Yet, I wouldn't take a 50m mechanical watch into the water! I wonder are there different levels of 50m resistance? I'm just curious if anyone has an opinion on it. As for this Accurist, it might not be perfect but it's flaws are outdone by its good looks!👍👍
I’ve heard from watchmakers when I’ve replaced batteries before that without pressure testing the seal I’d be taking a risk submerging watches with similar waterproof ratings. Screw down crowns are a comfort but yeah, I’m also not sure how consistent the 50m ability is across brands. Since your Samsung watch is rechargeable & therefore unlikely to be opened up, I guess the manufacturers seal & water rating as an active watch would be solid.
Excellent review of a great looking watch. Overcame my prejudice against quartz when I saw a blue dial one on ebay which I got for £38 incl postage. New, but no tags or box, but for that price who cares.
I just bought this for £64 in a special deal and it’s the best value ever!!By the way, I disagree on the bracelet, I find it very comfy and it looks great!
I like the look of the dials and sub dial layouts. I simply don't like a square type case... can't seem to wrap my head around a non-round case. This particular watch appears to have a misaligned second hand at the 12 (see 2:45). Although it could just be the camera angle. For the $175ish price, think I would rather have 2 pagani daytona homages.
Hello, Thank you for this video because precisely I am impatiently awaiting my Accurist 7366 (blue dial) which should arrive any day and which I bought for 99 euros. But the question I ask myself is: Why is it indicated on the dial "50 meters" in French and not in English? Of course I will change, as you suggest, the Milanese mesh bracelet for a beautiful rally style bracelet. Otherwise, yes, very beautiful watch and I understand that you fell in love. Nice day.
Gary that thing is a stunner! A total strap monster, with the vibe of a much more expensive brand. I love it, especially on that orange band. I’ll buy that band, but I must not buy that watch ! 🤣😎
It’s quartz!!! Bracelet is mediocre!!! And there’s no running seconds hand!!!! Lol 😂 I must admit it’s a nice looking watch . Maybe if they stuck a meca quartz’s in it and maybe that would have attracted me more to it. Nice review Gary
I did buy 6 of them for people in the US…they have sold now sadly…I may buy more and if I do they will go on my eBay store this time…link in the video descriptions
I don’t really get that sub-dial with a 24-hours marking, I see that alot of watches have that and it seems weird to sacrifice a seconds-hand in favour of that? If you don’t know if its am or pm you just look out the window :) but of course.. with analog watches you can’t really trust the seconds hand either way so maybe it’s not a great argument :). Really nice looking watch! Btw this one isn’t on ali express but does anyone know when they have sales? I checked out that 11.11 and black friday but do they usually have sales in the spring/summertime as well?
