As a Christian myself, this is disgusting behaviour. He lied to everyone just to get more money for his idea, knowing full well that if his audience knew about Oaxis being a religious streaming service, the majority of them wouldn't`t support it. He either should of been honest about in the first place or didn`t make it about religion. I wonder how he would feel if I started a streaming service, he gave me some of his money to support it and then I revealed it was designed to teach Gnostic Christian ideas and values.

To be fair, I don't think kids are the ones donating to Oaxis. People who were kids when Danny Phantom and Fairly Odd Parents where at their peak are adults now (or at least teens) and they can make their own decisions.

At a Christian college learning about animation before I backed out. My professor gave me this piece of knowledge: “People don’t want to be preached at when they watch cartoons. They want to hear good stories.” Just because you’re a Christian doesn’t mean you have to push Christian content. Pete Doctor(big name guy at Pixar) is a Christian, and even He admits that He doesn’t feel the need to insert his beliefs into content he makes. And the movies he made still taught good values. I like Butch, and as much as I found it cool that He’s a a Christian...He’s really not going about what He wants to do the right way.

Sorry, to disagree but all writers insert their beliefs when writing a story it's outright impossible not to do. What matters is how the belief is implemented, also as a Christian their is nothing wrong with putting your beliefs in a work of fiction (atheist do the same thing).

Brandon Ontama i get your point, but it is possible for a writer to make a good story without throwing their beliefs into it. For instance, i’ve seen fanfic riders cringingly doing stuff like making straight characters lgbt, or gender aside, rewriting characters to the point of being unrecognizable. It’s possible to not throw your personal beliefs into your writing if the story calls for it. It’s like Vic Mignogna playing an atheist. He’s a devout Christian irl, but he doesn’t downplay or try to pretend his character Edward Elric is a Christian.

I agree that people don't want to be preached at when they watch cartoons, BUT I still think inserting your beliefs can still be done without it coming across as preachy. Heck, showing your moral beliefs is essential to making a good story. But you need to do it in a way that doesn't feel forced or cringey, but rather make it under the surface, and displayed through the story itself instead of the dialogue. If you tell a good story, people won't mind that you're showing them what you think is morally right. In fact, it makes the experience better, and more fulfilling.

Brandon Ontama you can insert values in a story line, even a little bit of yourself but he has a point. I’ve never once walked away from a Pixar movie thinking “I felt they were pushing christianity on me there”. Writers can insert multiple personal experiences but also make them told from a 3rd person perspective so well, you don’t feel pressed to go with. Your pov is pretty one sided.

But he thinks nobody can criticize him because "they've never made a cartoon or worked in the biz". Butch attacks the TTG staff by saying he wouldn't bend to Network demands like they did, when he literally made Poof, Sparky and Chloe because of Network demands. He doesn't respect anyone in the industry. He has such an inflated ego. He didn't create anyone's childhood. He pitched two shows and had staff that nurtured it and made them good. Butch is an egotistical scam.

My favourite Butch Hartman hypocrisy is where he says at the conference "A sex scene - Parents cover their kids eyes. TV shows hundreds of questionable agendas that kids shouldn't be taking in". In the UK Fairly Odd Parents and Danny Phantom aired on the BBC. Specifically during a show called "Dick & Dom inda Bungalow". A show that prior to getting the rights to those shows, was already in trouble almost weekly for having offensive content (for instance one of the presenters wore a t-shirt with "Morning Wood" written on it and this happened before they got the rights) I've spoke to people involved in making that show, they had to send footage of the show to Nickelodeon, and as executive producer Butch himself had to sign off on allowing them the rights to show it. So Butch was completely fine on allowing that show to air FOP and DP. He took the money back then.

Judging from what you have said here, he doesn't sound like a very pleasant guy. Seriously, even if you aren't experienced in creating media, as a consumer, you should know when something could use some improving! Candy Luna burst He left Nickelodeon to start his own streaming service. He creates a Kickstarter to get $250K to get started. Offered very little details about the service aside from being family friendly. Then he calls out people for criticising him for not working on a cartoon. (His ego went way too high) Then he practically begged at the last day for a few more bucks since his goal was almost reached. He reaches his goal, but still no information on the service. Now recently, he reveals to it to be a Christian service but will also offer non Christian content.

I almist cried watching this video... I watched the Livestream and it was actually kinda scummy of him to say that... Waffle Queen I know. part of this was serious but most of it was overexaggerated I should have tried to make it more obvious. That's what I try to do but I don't really do a good job sometimes lol the part with "don't meet your idols" isn't meant to be taken recently but some of the stuff I found was completely scummy of him. Honestly, if Butch had said it would be a Christian service, I would have been more likely to donate. The fact that he was rather vague, is disheartening, but given some of the strong anti-Christian actions in Hollywood, I can see why he might have chosen such a path. No need to worry about little kids accidentally watching Orange is the New Black or Jessica Jones or something else that has more mature content. #2Just look at what Netflix did to VeggieTales. After Netflix took over, the look of the show was completely, and unnecessarily, changed, almost the whole voice csst changed, and worst of all, the strong Christian message was watered-down to one Bible verse per episode. #3 Let's face it, everyone it seems is starting their own streaming service. CBS, HBO, Disney, DC Comics, etc. Might as well jump on the bandwagon.

Dude, i actually put out an entire paragraph ect as a recommendation for him to start his own channel, with it being kickstarted by his fans. Literally -- on one of his very first videos when he started his channel. Now he's actually doing it! Whether or not i influenced him a bit, i'm glad its a dream come true! It has also been revealed that the quote “you’ve trusted me with your childhood but trust me with your future” was actually a quote in a letter Kuro the artist sent him for a fan mail Friday episode but butch took that quote and made it into a slogan. The quote kuro wrote in his letter was “most people get to thank you for their childhood but I’m lucky enough to thank you for my future.” So basically, butch took that quote, changed it up a little and made it into his slogan for oaxis pretending that he made that slogan. Honestly, I like Butch Hartman (not like that). He’s like a kind dude you can trust.
