Butch is one of the last great artists out there. A multi-instrumentalist, producer, writer, vocalist. Simply amazing. Been a fan of his since Marvelous 3. Butch, can't wait for your next record. And please come back to Austin, TX. And not during exclusively during SXSW. Some of us here can't afford that. Love ya, bud! Peace.
Butch is in the top performers I've ever seen. I saw him DESTROY two great opening bands, just him and an acoustic. "I was checked in by four, put a sign on the door.." Roof blew off.
Can someone please point me in the direction of what he meant by making a Record in your bedroom with just a laptop. Essentially what gear would I need to get it done?
buy a good Mic, like sontronics, buy a Interface like the Presonus 26, then buy your DAW like Studio One or Protools, and start your song. That is what he means.
a new trend that is pretty annoying is a bus master compressor being keyed by the kick drum channel. home studio engineers might like it because their monitors are crap, but please. stop. its annoying as hell.
BuildYourOwnBass I am not a pro producer/engineer, but I really try to avoid compressing Everything, prefer the natural Dynamics of the recording rather than overproducing every F.. Track.
